Boot space is 425 litres - with the parcel shelf in place. Looks like the vertical space will be less. Otherwise, cannot really explain where did the longitudinal space disappear ?

If this is the case, then I hope there is a way to stow away the parcel shelf when there is extra luggage.

Those seats look well structured too, though I was hoping for a proper 2-way height adjustment at the least.

Looking at the variants, the Top XZ variant is the one ! Many good features missing from the lower variants. The lower XE variant is relatively very bare-bones, that the on-road 16L for this looking a little high already.

Also interesting when we think about Tata will be providing more personal customisation options to this vehicle. That should make it very convenient to a lot of prospective customers. Looking at the options on a Nexon, I could only imagine what Tata might have in store. Exciting for sure. Some sporty alloys, roof wraps, optional sunroof....

Well Dare I say, the interiors are not gelling well with the 'smashing' exteriors in terms of premium'ness. Hope the production cars get better plastics.

With the huge swath of dull brown insert as seen in the pics, i feel it is not soft touch like the Compass and Tucson or even the Hexa.

Will wait for Detailed reviews to tell a complete story.

Points to be noted

• Cruise Control
• No Aircon airflow volume controls
• No centre speaker like the Hexa
• Steering Horn pad, instrument cluster plastics appear low rent
• Hybrid cupholder for 1 large or 1 small tumbler
• No sliding tambour centre pocket like the nexon
• No Auto Headlamps or Wipers
• Door storages are slim
• Grip surfaces like the steering wheel, door close handle and middle grab rails are a notch thicker ( may not gel well with the the ladies and those with less than Goliath hands
• No central lock/unlock button
• Weird ergonomics of the door handle which can catch your finger tips if not careful
  

No rumoured BS6 engine, And the Variant Line-up is quite detailed, XE at 13.99 is acceptable

I don't expect the materials to change between now and the production version. They can sort out the alignment issues, perhaps, but surely not the material itself.

BTW, are you talking about the brown insert that runs from left to right? That's supposed to be faux wood and not supposed to be soft touch. I like the matte finish too as a glossy finish might have looked out of place in this car.

Thank god, the name Hexa is visible clearly. Otherwise, this would have triggered another round of speculation about the AT!

If this doesn't sell, well then I don't know what will! Kudos to those behind the Harrier. Hope they launch the automatic in top variant unlike others, whenever it happens. While out of my rational budget, Harrier does entice me. Compass has met the undertaker.

The quoted pic could be misleading. If you observe carefully, the pic seems to be taken in an HDR mode (to reveal the details hiding in the shadows). What that may do in turn is make the colors look washed out and less contrasty. There is a massive difference between this and the studio pic (which is the other end of the spectrum). So guess it would be best to wait and watch.

BTW, how would you know if the feel is soft touch from a pic? Just asking.

But my old peeve about a not-so suitable angle of the grip (see the orange box) continues from more than a decade.

And the seat-belt - are they not height adjustable ? ( See red box). Or is the design such that a separate adjustment mechanism is no longer required ?

Harrier looks seriously good but can't think of driving a manual in NCR. AWD or 4x4 not required at all, afterall this a soft roader so 4x2 will be quite enough for general usage. Strange they are rolling out a nice car without AT transmission in todays world.

And why is everyone taking apart Tata for lack of AT at launch?

I remember even the Compass not having the option at launch.

While it wud have been great to have an AT right away, it's not that one has to wait a long time for the same.

Let's atleast wait for Tata to comment on AT officially before the hate is rained down.

Till then, enjoy the outstanding piece of engineering Tata has come up with.

Among all the positives, the only thing that seems to be unlike Tata, they are trying to do with Harrier what Hyundai did with Creta, i.e. create the hype, attract people and then price it ambitiously.

Feature, build, dimension and interior space wise Harrier is almost similar to Renault Captur, which starts at 9.99 lakhs. The only significant thing visible to layman is the superior interior quality in Harrier.

For this if Tata prices it close to 15 lakh for a almost fully localized car, then there will be no difference with Jeep Compass, whose introductory price was 14.95 lakhs, and then Harrier may see only moderate success like Hexa, which is seemed to be a very well priced car.

In order to sweep away the competition across a wide price bracket, the base variant at least should be priced well below Compass' starting price. Otherwise it will further increase the sale of Creta, like what Jazz did to i20.
