Mahindra to supply 1,000 Verito EVs to Baghirathi Group

Mahindra has won a contract to supply Verito-based electric vehicles (EVs) to Bangalore’s Baghirathi Group. As part of the Rs. 110 crore contract, Mahindra will deliver 1,000 eVerito EVs to the transportation company over the next 12 months.

According to Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric, the eVerito EVs have been modified to suit the requirements of the company. The cars have been fitted with a second-generation battery, which is claimed to deliver a range of 140-180 km on a single charge. With the new order, Mahindra is expected to double its annual EV production to about 3,000 units in FY2019.

Mahindra has also supplied EVs to corporate transport service provider Lithium Urban Technologies and ride hailing services like Ola and Uber that currently operate the electric e2o and eVerito cars in select cities.

In 2017, Mahindra was outbid by Tata Motors to secure a government tender for 10,000 EVs. Being a Level 2 bidder, Mahindra may deliver 3,000-3,500 cars to Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), including 150 units in the first phase.

Re: Mahindra to supply 1,000 Verito EVs to Baghirathi Group

This is great news!

I'm all for moving to an all-electric auto-world.

Lithium cabs are very popular in Bangalore and see them ferrying people at all times of the day. The cab drivers I have spoken to have been pretty happy with the E2O as well.

I have never travelled in or even seen an electric Verito though.

I spotted this taxi in Whitefield last week while returning home from work.

Re: Mahindra to supply 1,000 Verito EVs to Baghirathi Group

Looks like Baghirathi was happy with the earlier Verito EVs they deployed in June (source) and has come back with a large order. These EVs must have found good acceptance with their corporate clients.

Such big orders will also help Mahindra with inputs from real-world usage (and thus, testing).

That's quite an improvement over its earlier 110 km range . 140 - 180 km is more than enough for the daily usage of 99% of car owners out there.
