Re: Rumour: New-gen Volvo XC60 to launch in India in late 2017

Decent pricing IMO, especially considering the fact that its CBU with all options ticked. And its a seriously good looking car.

2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

Volvo has launched its all-new 2017 XC60 in India. The 2nd-gen XC60 is only available in the top-spec Inscription trim which is priced at Rs. 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh-xc60.jpg

The new XC60 is based on Volvo’s latest Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) which also underpins the XC90, S90 and V90. It measures 4,688 mm in overall length, 1,902 mm in width and 1,658 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,865 mm. The XC60 has a 505-litre boot and can tow up to 2,400 kg. The SUV comes with a 71-litre fuel tank.

The new XC60 looks like a compact version of the XC90. It features a similar front-end design with a large chrome grille with vertical slats and the 'iron mark' logo in the centre. The grille is flanked by LED headlights and DRLs shaped like Thor’s hammer. The rear features L-shaped tail lights that follow the contours of the rear hatch.

The cabin of the new XC60 is quite similar to the XC90’s interior. The dashboard, steering wheel and centre console have been borrowed from the larger SUV. The seats are trimmed in Nappa leather, while wooden panels are used along the dashboard, door panels and the central tunnel. The front seats are ventilated and come with massage function. A 9-inch touchscreen sits in the centre of the dashboard, which operates the 4-zone climate control. The instrument panel comprises of a 12.3-inch digital display.

Under the hood is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 232 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 480 Nm of peak torque @ 1,750-2,250 rpm. The XC60 gets Volvo's Power Pulse Technology. It uses compressed air to spool up the turbochargers instantly thereby reducing turbo-lag. It is coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifts. Power is sent to all the wheels, however, by default the car is front-wheel-drive only. Up to 50% of the total power can be sent to the rear wheels when needed. The driver can choose from five different driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-Road and Individual.

The launch version of the XC60 Inscription includes the Tech Pack which adds air-suspension, Nappa leather, ventilated front seats with massage function, blind spot indication system (BLIS) and cross-traffic alert, 360-degree camera and heads-up display. Other standard features include a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, panoramic sunroof, distance alert, front & rear parking sensors and a hands-free powered tail gate.

The new XC60 also gets safety aids like steer assist, city safety system which includes pedestrian and cyclist detection and can apply the brakes automatically to avoid a collision at speeds up to 50 km/h, oncoming lane mitigation to avoid head-on collisions, ABS and ESC.

The new XC60 comes in 4 exterior colours – Crystal White Pearl, Black Max, Havana Brown and Pine Grey with 3 interior colour options - Amber, Maroon Brown or Blond.

Re: 2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

Volvo has taken the interiors to a whole new level effectively at par with its larger cousin the XC90. Photo below of my Volvo XC60's interior which you can see is a generation older. Mine is a 2014 model. Compare this with the photos above. Good for Volvo.

Re: 2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

My childhood friend who owns the first P3 platform XC60 sold in Hyderabad has been waiting for the new one to launch in India this since the day it was announced globally, just got a call from him saying he has booked it.

His XC60 is one of the reason I own a XC90. Pricing of the XC60 is very good inspite of being a CBU.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it delivers 235 hp?! Additional hp means more grin on your face.

I think the equivalent car in UK sells for around Rs. 40 lakh. considering the Indian import duties, its a cracker of a pricing by Volvo. However, is local assembling on the cards considering they have a unit operational in India now?

Here's the tech on how they do it. Usually turbo = lag, but Volvo has managed to eliminate it completely. I would definitely like to get a TD of this car.

If you read my V90 review, the power came on like unleashing a genie from the bottle. Power appears when you want it, no wait, no lag

Beautiful car! These new age Volvos are so beautiful inside out. Ventilated massaging seats, air suspension, 360 degree cameras are all superb features to get at 56 Lakhs Ex - Showroom. Those in the market should rush and grab the launch version ASAP.

Re: 2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

That is just incredible pricing . On one hand, you have Volvo launching CBUs at VFM prices, and on the other you have Lexus' laughably ridiculous price tags . And this is the loaded XC60 with all the bells & whistles!

The "new Volvo" is definitely going to keep Audi, BMW & Mercedes on their toes. Appealing designs, top interiors and great equipment. The only area Volvo lacks in is big 6-cylinders, but most luxury buyers (non-enthusiasts) anyway buy the 4-pot motors in India (e.g. E250 outsells the E350 9:1).

Jaggu drove the XC60 last weekend and was very impressed with it.

Re: 2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

Awesome car and awesome pricing . The stunning XC40 when launched is really going to give sleepless nights to the Germans. By the way, does the back of hatch protrude beyond the rear bumper?

Re: 2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

Considering no change in the pricing between CBU and CKD models of XC90, I don't think the price will change much for XC60 either, once they start assembling it in their bangalore factory. Volvo seems to be taking a hit on profits in the initial stages for these CBU units but they will easily make up once they start CKD assembling later as all these are priced substantially higher than other markets.

Re: 2017 Volvo XC60 launched at Rs. 55.90 lakh

Superb pricing! looking at the feature & safety list will make your head go dizzy. First time i saw a spec sheet that covers both sides without a single image in it. Volvo did a brilliant move by bringing in the top end Inscription trim, their market research i would say is spot on! Customers who spend this kind of moolah would expect it to be nothing but top end.

While coming to the drive experience, i would rate it right at the top. Brilliant package size wise, has ample room while not taking up too much space on our crowded indian roads. The engine is super quick, like Ajit mentioned there is absolutely NO turbo lag! Chuck the drive mode into dynamic, feather the throttle and you will be seeing crazy speedo indications on that brilliant heads up display. The cabin is so silent that one just does not realize the speeds this car is doing. And those safety stuff really works, they intervene in a subtle manner to remind you constantly about the conditions you are driving in, and keep you within safe limits. I have to admit it one would need a really stupid driver to crash this one.

To conclude, this is one car i would like to own, after a long time am seeing such an amazing package. I am sure there would be some juicy pre-owned deals in couple of years and don't be surprised if i pick one up lol

It doesn't eliminate completely. It just reduces , you can definitely feel the lag when you put your foot down. The canister is super small to push in the amount of air they claim.

I had been to Volvo service centre in Bangalore on Monday to get something checked and when my car was connected to diagnostics. The car threw an error saying power pulse mechanical failure . Volvo took out the canister to check for any leaks , turns out the hose from the electric pump to the canister was loose. In reality the canister is as big as a 500ml water bottle or less.

The lag is definitely felt in an XC90 but it could be less in XC60 due to the car weight. My friend already got a fat discount on his booking.

I have not tried XC90 but in XC60 it's like electric motor response, just ensure it is in Dynamic mode.
