Is it just me or does that steering wheel look like a truck's wheel ?

Actually it looks a lot like the swift 3-spoke steering wheel. A lot of other stuff is similar too - like the circular AC vents, layout of the AC controls, placement of the HU, the gear knob etc.

I somehow feel it's larger than the Swift's wheel. Maybe its the color scheme.
And the chrome strip in the front looks distinctly Indicaish. Spacious interiors, tallboy design.. Looks like Maruti will reclaim the taxi market with the Zen diesel ...

Is this interior colour scheme going to make it into our market on all versions? That would be a first for this segment...or is this just for the highest spec version?

Aren't rented cars in India supposed to have black number plates with yellow letters and numbers? It is also possible that a car rental company may be registering some of its cars as taxies.

Whatz the big deal about swift being a taxi??

Even mercs are available as taxi/hotel cabs..

Big deal, that does not take any thing from a car..

No big deal if its a taxi or not... but then the scare is if there are more taxi's that regulars....service goes for a big toss... as with Tata Indica... go to service station and you will see an ocean of Indicabs....

Another crib (if you can call it one) is when someone in the road stops you for a ride thinking you are a taxi .. I am sure that would have happened to genuine Qualis owners...particularly in Silk board junction in Bangalore (just hurts a bit of the EGO )

, I quite agree with that one.. But I own Indigo SX, At no angles does it look like a cab and I dont think the level of Service I have received has deteriorated by Concorde.

Lot of it is a perception.

What I wanted to convey is that A fine car is a fine car. Does not matter whether it is used as a taxi by some one or not..

I agree with you. Are not Mercs, Beemers, Volvos and even Ferrari (spotted by someone in God's own country) being used as Taxis?

So why the fuss? A car being more popular and efficient are some reasons, for it being used as a taxi. Police walas in chennai have Accent CRDi. Does that mean all Accent owners have to start wailing?

Why so much of waiting period ?
I think this time story will be different than swift petrol...
even zen is being booked with 50000/- but delieveries are on the way. The first zen will be out in Chandigarh tomorrow ( bought through internet by an NRI ). Maruti wants to cash festival ( marriage ) season.
