In order to increase their presence in the entry-level market, Hyundai is working on re-launching new generation Santro next year
Quote:
This new Santro will be better equipped to rival the competition. It will not only be bigger in dimensions, but will also offer more space on the inside as well as features. Extensive research has gone into the making of the new Hyundai Santro by the company’s R&D center in South Korea.

Hyundai i10 replacement spied. Might be called Santro

A spy image that has surfaced on the internet suggests that Hyundai will soon add a new hatchback to its line-up. The entry-level hatchback could possibly be a replacement for the i10 which was discontinued in March 2017. It will slot in between the Eon and Grandi10 and will rival the likes of the Renault Kwid, Maruti Celerio and Tata Tiago. As earlier reports have indicated, the new hatchback might carry the Santro name.

It is difficult to comment on the styling of the new hatchback due to the heavy camouflage. However, it’s worth noting that the car has a tall stance with a steeply raked rear windshield. Also, the variant seen in the image is riding on steel wheels.

The car is likely to get the same 1.0-litre Kappa petrol engine from the Eon. An 800cc version might also be on cards. Hyundai hasn’t made any official announcement regarding the new model. That said, it is likely to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.

Title changed. It could also be a new Kia. So far, there's nothing to suggest that it's a Santro.

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

My contribution:

The next-gen Hyundai Santro-1.jpg

The new AH2's petrol engine production commenced at Hyundai's plant about 6 weeks back.

This test mule could be the first one on which road tests are being conducted, which is equipped with this newly-assembled petrol engine.

Internally, the AH2 is being referred to as the "new Santro". There's a good chance Hyundai would want to stick with the brand name, as it still has a cult following in our country.

Other details awaited.

I would firmly place my bets on this being a new Hyundai, as it runs on a TN-21 trade plate. Kia has its facility in Andhra Pradesh, so that could be the give-away clue here.

Also, notice that there is a white Celerio ahead of this test vehicle, giving us a hint of which segment Hyundai could have in sights here. I hope they benchmark the Tiago too, to arrive at a better product.

Dude! how in the name of lord did you deduce it's a Celerio? Your vision, buddy is something much more than what meets the eye!

Not think so as the rear door and side bodies are different.

Something I had missed at first look - but check the bumper of the vehicle in front. I think that;s what caused the mention of the Celerio

New Generation Hyundai Santro 2018 to Replace i10, could be unveiled in Auto Expo
Quote:
the MD & CEO of Hyundai has confirmed the news that the new Hyundai Santro 2018 will be launched in 2018. The car was recently spotted testing at Salem-Chennai highway

I was kind of confused with the concept's design, both door handles are in the same location while the production version from spy shots appear normal. Similarly, the concept car had nicely concealed the B-pillar whereas the production version appears usual.

Guess it's an interesting car to look for at the expo. Hope it is a mighty challenger to Celerio, Tiago and Kwid.

The car that's been spotted testing looks nothing like this concept car! Maybe it's some form of inspiration, I do not know, but fo sure Hyundai is trying to make a design statement like the Kwid.
