re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

Spotted by Facebook blogger Wheels on road recently at Delhi during evening time, showing it's tail lights in action.

Also of note is the height comparison with an i10 by it's side, in the last pic. The test mule looks taller than the i10, in fact it's as tall as the Brezza in front of it.

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

Now that all new Maruti Swift is launched, I am looking forward to what Hyundai has to offer from its stable. I am not very much impressed with new Swift. Hyundai is known to offer feature rich cars compared to its competition. I am hoping the new Santro / i10 will b a direct competitor to new Swift. Looking that 'spy' pics the car looks much bigger than previous Santro. Only concern is engine / transmission options, otherwise Hyundai cars are VFM.

I think the new Santro would be pitted against a segment lower than the Swift, i.e. the Celerio segment. Hyundai's pricing has left a vaccum in that segment for the company. i10 is priced closer to the Swift. Their offering of Eon hasn't made a dent in the market and their resurrection of the Santro is a call for the people's car like it's earlier brethren.

Please Hyundai! Make atleast front two Airbags as standard and offer ABS as option, if not standard across the variants in this car. You were the pioneer in offering safety features, what's got into to you?

I was thinking the very same thing today. They need to at least offer front air bags as standard safety features across variants and ABS as an option.

Does any one have any idea about the pricing? A lot of news websites are predicting between 3-4. Some even sub 3 lakh, but that seems unlikely. Or maybe if they’ve taken a cue from Kwid and done just that. Given a beefy looking car at a cheap price.

I was under the impression that any new model that would be launched after October 2017 has to be fitted with airbags across variants? Am I missing something here?

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

The compact family oriented car codenamed AH2 ( Santro name not finalized) will be launched this festive season ( October -Nov, around Diwali ).

Dealers and market survey is in favor of branding it as 'Santro'.

Quote:
the hatchback would be wider and taller than the i10 model. The car will be powered by a petrol engine with options for factory-fitted CNG engines. It will also have automated and manual transmission options.

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

Despite being a no-show at the 2018 Auto Expo, the AH2 hatch continues it's extensive road testing.

Here's one such test mule which was caught up close recently by a good friend (he wishes to remain anonymous).

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

Hyundai is reportedly planning to pre-pone the launch of the all-new AH2 hatch to August 2018, against Diwali 2018 as was reported previously.

The pricing is speculated to start from just under Rs 3 lakhs, which makes the AH2 the replacement of the Hyundai Eon hatchback, which might be discontinued shortly afterwards.

Quote:
The new Santro will also be a replacement for the Eon as the latter will not meet the upcoming Indian safety norms. The new Santro will be based on the old i10 platform and will also use the original i10’s 1086cc engine with approximately 70 bhp of power and 100 Nm of torque. On offer will be Hyundai’s first ever AMT (automated manual transmission) as well as a 5-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai will also offer optional factory fitted LPG or CNG versions. The engine will be tuned to meet the current emission norms and will offer certified fuel economy of over 22 kmpl.

The new Hyundai Santro will also get segment leading features and could offer best in class space. Consumers can look forward to a semi digital display, driver-side airbag as standard, touch-screen infotainment system on the top-end trim levels and ample practical touches like storage spaces and big door pads. At 1560 mm, the new Santro will be 10 mm taller than the old i10 and is reportedly 10-15 mm wider too.

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

I am seeing the test car with no. TN 87 xx176x being tested almost every day now on my way to work in the morning on the Vikaspuri Elevated Road. And almost everytime the driver is pushing the car and from what I have seen by chasing the test car is that it can easily achieve speeds of 120-130 kmph because I was doing a speed of 110 kmph in my Brezza when the test car zoomed past me and this has happened 3-4 times now.

Isn't that looks like another grand i10 rather than santro? Images from side angle has striking similarity with grand i10. Hope Hyundai has kept different design language for new santro and not extension of grand i10 or Eon!

re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

Saw this test mule on NH8 near Ambience Mall, Gurgaon on 31st March. This looks like the new Santro as the number is similar to the ones pictured here. It was really zipping around. Pickup was excellent. We couldn't get a better shot.
