re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Spotted today on my way to Gurgaon, the plates are same as in the above post.
What was noted that the tail light lit up just like the top end Baleno ( LED strip and small round- round leds).
Overall the car felt bigger than the existing model, could be because of the Tweak in the boot door.

Though I too hope so, but highly unlikely. Ertiga is selling well and I don't think Maruti will do anything drastic. Even the gear knob looks same as current ertiga sold in India.

They might instead decide on AGS for diesel (but this one surely is petrol AT)

We will soon know once CIAZ is out, Ertiga does share a lot with it and they are seen together mostly as well.

Interestingly i hardly saw any road test review of Ertiga from Indonesia. While we had a lot of them covering the expo event and demo of Ertiga, why is it that there are no road test reviews ?
Has suzuki started delivering these cars in Indonesia ?

I was in Indonesia on the 21st May and visited the Suzuki Showroom. They only had the display vehicle and when I inquired about the test drive, they said it will start on 28th May. Unfortunately, my return was on 27th May.

The first of the gear label starts with 'P', so this cannot be an AMT. AMT doesn't have 'P' mode but only 'N'.

Most likely it is the same 4 AT. You can see the same on Indonesia spec All new Ertiga too.

I would prefer a 4AT with TC any time over a CVT.

CVT was very far-fetched, I was expecting a 6 AT - since the same engine might be powering many of their premium offerings, a good gearbox to take on highways would be so nice. Maruti seem to think that automatics are only for cities though(4 AT is just fine for the city usage)

But isnt CVT more efficient than TC?

I have a Santro AT which gives only 7-7.5kmpl FE in city and hear that its not much different with other 4 speed TC - AT used in i10 as well - the TC itself is not built by Hyundai AFAIK, it is from a 3rd party.

A 6 speed AT may be better for city also, because with the 4 speed AT it would be mostly using 1st and 2nd gear in city and 3rd gear sometimes. 6 speed could be more efficient.

Another minus is that the 4 speed AT in this vehicle does not seem to have option of manual shift override which is needed in hilly areas, to keep the vehicle in 1st or 2nd gear during steep descents. It would also be useful for quick overtaking.

It is invisible steering wheel. Steering is turned by hand gesture. Just wave your hand left or right.

Look at the orientation of the wiper arms.

This is a left hand drive Ertiga.

It's definitely not the Indian version

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Managed to catch the Ertiga today at ORR Delhi.

Compared to current ertiga, the grown up size is apparent.

The first 3 photos one can make out it does stand out compared to old innova. The Innova is still bigger though.

Notice the extra long rear door. One can expect a considerable improvement in middle row legroom.

The model was petrol since I couldn't make out any diesel like clatter.
