According to a media report, Mahindra will soon offer an automatic transmission on both the petrol and diesel variants of the KUV100 NXT. The company is likely to introduce the KUV100 NXT with an AMT in 2018.



Mahindra recently launched the KUV100 facelift. The new model features updated styling with a dual-tone exterior option and a slightly reworked interior. Under the skin, the KUV100 NXT is identical to its predecessor except for minor suspension tweaks and NVH improvements.

It is offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with 82 BHP and 115 Nm of torque and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel producing 77 BHP and 190 Nm. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The rumoured AMT will likely be based on the same 5-speed transmission. Mahindra currently offers the AMT gearbox on the TVU300.

Besides the KUV100 NXT AMT, Mahindra is also working on an all-electric version of the KUV100. It too is reportedly scheduled for launch in 2018.

New KUV looks a lot better than older one. But the bonnet and bumper seem to be held together by giant stapler clips. I strongly feel Mahindra should not have overlooked this quirk.

The KUV 100 was given a face-lift back in 2016 which offered more features. Named the KUV 100 Nxt, the car offered some minor changes. The lack of an AMT variant was rather disheartening for the small percentage of the customers looking for an automatic transmission option. Turns out Mahindra was listening to those customers which is proved by these set of spy images.



Spotted near the Mahindra plant in Kandivali, Mumbai, the test mule was bearing minimal camoflouge. Earlier one may ignore it for a dirty white KUV 100 Nxt, a closer look would reveal a white camouflage on the car. A look at the interior reveals a rather quirky gear lever placed on the dash. One can see the new automatic transmission, which appears similar to that of the AMT gearbox earlier seen on the TUV 300. As per the sounds heard during the mule’s start up, it must have been a diesel engine.



The AMT model would be made available on both petrol and engine options. Both the 1.2 litre engines offer an option of 5 or 6 seats. The test mule was seen with a 6 seater configuration with the front centre armrest down. The KUV 100 Nxt is an entry level crossover, while there is no news available on the launch of the Amt variant, Keep looking at this space for more information when available. Rumour: Mahindra KUV100 diesel to get AMT option

According to a media report, Mahindra is planning to introduce an automated manual transmission (AMT) with the KUV100 NXT diesel variant.



Last week, a KUV100 NXT equipped with an AMT was spotted in Mumbai. The spy images revealed a centre console mounted shift lever similar to the manual version.

Latest reports suggest that the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine, which makes 77 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 190 Nm @ 1,750-2,250 rpm is likely to be offered with an AMT gearbox. Mahindra is expected to continue to offer the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine makes 82 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 115 Nm @ 3,500-3,600 rpm.

The process of upgrading these engines to comply with BS-VI regulations is reportedly underway. Mahindra is also working on an all-electric eKUV100, which is likely to be powered by a 30 kW electric motor. Its lithium-ion battery pack is claimed to offer a maximum range of 140 km on a single charge.

A test mule of the KUV100 NXT automated manual transmission (AMT) has been spotted testing in Mangalore. The badges on the tailgate and front fender indicate that the AMT is likely to be offered on the K8 variant of the diesel version of the KUV100 NXT.



Apart from the "autoSHIFT" badge, compact SUV looks similar to the standard car. It rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels and has rear parking sensors.



The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine in the KUV100 NXT makes 77 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 190 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,250 rpm. The petrol engine which puts out 82 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 115 Nm @ 3,500-3,600 rpm. It is unclear whether Mahindra will offer the AMT with the petrol engine.
