Why no automatics?

I m pissed off with the fact maruti has not considered an automatic version for Estilo and probably also for forthcoming cars. Its quite unfortunate in india that just becuase an automatic guzzles fuel, there is no automatic in the market. I mean what happened to catering to customer choices? And marutis automatics will obviously be a bit better than the hyundais perhaps by a couple of km per litre of fuel.

A car with CNG + automatic could possibly trigger of a revolution in this country. Although trends to point that people are moving that direction, i think by the time proper automatics are launched, one has to wait forever.

ZEN Estilo except for its look nothing great package for sure. Its like mini van (small brother of Innova) but its cramped, what I expect if its smallor big car If space inside is cramped one front / back it don't make any sense to go for that car. ZEN Estilo is another example of Maruti producing cramped cars.

I liked its look for sure! I feel its great car to gift your lady but no automatic version :(

Regards,

Ravi.

Like you said I dont think the Fiat Linea is going to materialise as per media hype , I mean it sounds too too too too good to be true . Imagine the car beig badged as a Alfa with a 1.9JTD pumping out 140 bhp , Holy God ! pray for Skoda and anything near it ....coz I dont think u can make a car so beautiful, me being a Maserati fan , I am praying everyday ,
Totally with you on the looks. I am bowled over by the muscular yet conservative lines of the Linea. I hate funky modern designs.

However, there is little chance that the Linea will ever be branded as an Alfa for India.

Right now it looks like a head to head battle between Santro and Estillo.

Anybody have some hard numbers to prove which one has a bigger interoir. All first impressions are suggesting the Estillo is cramped but so is the Santro IMHO.

Happened to passby a demo car...(which was being demo'ed quite brutally after all what are test drives for...)

The back looks better than the photo...but definitely an innova baby....
The front is also good...but somehow the dashboard inside has a bit of a vague design....the first thing you observe in that car is the dashboard...somehow its over prominent...
But I found that the driver was finding it quite effortless...may be a very easy to drive car...tyres look narrow (and small) , I think that was to increase fuel efficiency...

I think it will give Santro a run for its money...but Hyndai have always been good marketers (eyewashers) so they will surely hit back...

IMHO too, Santro is also cramped, and the rear suspension doesnt work like it should... Thats why i liked wagonR even though Santro engine was a bit more nicer to drive...

The Zen is dead... Long live the Zen... and the Xenophobes...

I quite like it.

Look at the pricing, the competition & the target audience. It's close to perfect. It's an all new (for India) car. Maruti have only chosen to keep the Zen name to retain brand loyalty.

The styling is perfect for an urban vehicle. Small, but with an efficient use of available space. A bit derivative & bland maybe, but so what? It's mass market.

And somebody cribbing because it doesn't have steering wheel controls is just plain silly - (name me one car in this price range anywhere on the planet that does). Don't expect higher trim / equipment / sophistication for two reasons - one being that it's just in the entry level plus category, & secondly, it's from Maruti Udyog, who don't really need to give a sheet - look at their sales figures.

And quit whining about the old Zen. It's dead. It was nice in it's own time, but now it's dead. Dead. Dead. Dead.

People generally percieve fiat as small car maker atleast in India though its true that they have come out with snazzy convertibles , so I feel its safe to get into the C/D segment with a different image or they may have to face the same fate as Hyundai , am not saying Fiat is hated but u dont really look upon the car with that luxury appeal . This is just a feeling i got , it may not totally true. I feel even if it takes 1 lakh more per car to be rebadged as Alfa , they should do it coz alfa really has a good image , though the same cannot be said about relaiability. If not alfa , I dont mind it this way ...How about 'Ferrari Linea' , Just kidding any way I am praying that this is a true story !

Spotted the Zen demo car yesterday. It looks very much like a Wagon R.

You probably have not driven the Junkindica!

Fancy of you to state that Estilo is a dabba especially when we have the Indian populace swallowing the Junkindica by the truckloads. After owning the Junkindica since May2000 the name you have given for the Estilo is more appropriate for the car I own and not for the WagonR in new clothes. I wonder what part and aspect of the ZEN is similar to the Estilo.
