The Tata Tiago Wizz limited edition

Thanks to the Team-BHP fan (he prefers to remain anonymous) who sent this information and image in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this page!

The Tata Tiago Wizz limited edition-tiago-limited-edition.jpg

A single test mule of a special edition of the Tata Tiago has been spotted. The Tiago special edition will be based on the XT variant and not the top-end XZ variant.

As seen in the image, the Tiago Limited Edition gets a blacked-out roof and gloss black ORVM housings. A 13-inch steel wheel is seen on the car instead of the standard 14-inch unit. Tata has dropped the XT mascot for a new 'wizz' badge and has also added a 'Limited Edition' badge.

According to the information received, the car also gets blue dotted wheel rims (we're not sure what that means). Tata has made some changes to the interior as well for the Limited edition. These include manually operated ORVMs and a standard IRVM instead of an anti-glare type. Additionally, the passenger side vanity mirror has been deleted. The dashboard is new and the center fascia is finished in piano black with berry red highlights. Tata has improved the quality of the seat fabric on this variant.

Mechanically, the Tiago Limited Edition will likely be similar to the standard car. It has yet not been confirmed whether both petrol and diesel variants would be offered in Limited Edition guise. That said, the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine makes 83 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 3,500 rpm. The 1.05-litre diesel on the other hand produces 68 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm @ 1,800-3,000 rpm. Both engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearboxes.

Re: Scoop: Tata Tiago special edition caught!

I don't understand this limited edition theory of Tata Motors. What is the logic behind stripping off practical things (Electric ORVMs, Day-Night IRVMs, 14 inch wheels etc.) from XT variant and making some visual changes ? It looks more like an XE or XB variant with some aftermarket cosmetic upgrades. And, why is Tata Motor testing a mule which is mechanically identical to the ongoing one ?

Re: Scoop: Tata Tiago special edition caught!

More of Tata motors PR machinery in action trying to pass off press releases no one would read as viral content for a special edition which has less features than the standard product. Maybe this is the taxiwallah special

But why would a taxiwallah buy blackened roof and glossy ORVMs ?

Just to clarify, Tata has not (yet) sent out any press release. This is a scoop.

Re: Scoop: Tata Tiago special edition caught!

Wait, so this is actually a Special edition which is supposed to make the owners feel less special than the owners of the regular variant?

After reading the thread title, I was expecting to see a Tiago special edition that got the 15 inch alloys form the Tigor, and the touch screen audio and rear camera, to make it feel more-upmarket, sporty and 'special'. I have never heard of a special edition where features were stripped from the existing variant.

Since this is just a scoop and the details are not yet confirmed, we can't say that they are indeed stripping the car or not. They may well include a better engine or not, we don't know it yet, but I doubt they are foolish enough to place their limited edition product below regular version as far as features or mechanicals are concerned.

As for limited edition, almost all manufacturers do that, most of them, simply by placing some stickers.

Tiago never ever came with an Antiglare Mirror (Auto Dimming), while it had a Standard Day Night Mirror. I hope that's what you meant by mentioning Anti Glare Type.

Passenger side vanity mirror was again available only on XZ.

Piano Black finish does look nice but is prone to smudges unlike current XT variant which comes with Silver Finish Console.

Berry Red Highlights (AC Vents) was available only on Exterior Berry Red color. I don't know the exact reason Tata are testing this one, they may be planning a Sport Version for Festive Season or this may be the rumoured Tiago Sport Edition that was proposed instead of Bolt Sport.

Just a wild thought, can this be Tiago Electric?
I somehow find the word Wizz quite similar to it being an electric car.

Birdie claims that both engine types will be on offer in this special Limited Edition, which is based on the current XT variant.

They also claim that the engines are the same as the existing Tiago - 1.2L petrol & 1.05L diesel.

Guess Greenhorn feels black top and yellow bottom would still be a Taxi

Re: Scoop: Tata Tiago special edition caught!

So the guy who did the Duster interiors (with pink surrounds for the vents) has joined Tata. Yay! Can't wait for pink door handles and pink gear lever knobs.

This was offered on the top end variants from the time Tiago was launched (vents) & nothing new!

I read recently that till WW2 the colour pink was considered Macho or associated with males. Some how it all changed after that. Whether the touch of Pink on the dashboard looks good or bad is altogether different matter.

These test mules in many cases run on the "cheapest" available wheels. If this particular car has nothing changed mechanically, it doesn't really matter what wheels they run it on - depending what they are testing on the mule really. I have myself also seen the NEXON mules running on 15" steel rims (obviously from Manza/Bolt/Zest) with high profile tires. Same with many other cars also.
