Don't think early November is happening. From what the ASM told me, petrol CKD kits are expected to arrive by November first week, post which he can tell me if my car is allotted. Even if it is allotted, assembly, transportation, dealer level processing, registration etc would easily push it to mid or end Nov.
I'm now hoping against hope that I get it by my birthday (Nov 21), a full 13 weeks after booking.

Fingers crossed! My dealer (Vinayak Skoda) tells me that my car is allocated ,but can be delivered only in November. He is not clear in his explanation as to why it would take that long after allotment.

Allotted? Then he needs to provide you with a VIN number. Ask for it. If he cannot provide it, he is basically buying some time.

Allotment to delivery should normally be the time for the vehicle to be transported to the showroom + 2 days for the RTO process and other paper work.

Note the gray piece of plastic jutting out from rear fender. That is what I am speaking of.

This isn't a mud flap. It's to improve aerodynamics and airflow across the fender and wheel arches.

Mudflats are installed towards the rear of the wheel arch to prevent unwanted splashes.

Thanks! I remember the original reviews speaking of these aerodynamic aids but gave the benefit of doubt to the posting of mud flaps being part of standard package. I assume now they will be in accessories pack and yes, if we go by how tall a typical mud flap is, it will be interesting to see if it ends up scraping on speed breakers.

If so, then what's the rear mud flap mentioned as part of the the standard accessories list? I see from your image that there's no mud flap beneath the bumper.
The essential accessories kit specifically mentions only front mud flap.

Let me do a quick check with my dealer. TBH, I do not remember going through the standard accessories list in detail and when I read mud flaps in accessories package, I assumed it would be front and rear, both! (who gives out only one pair?)

The pre-facelift Octavia used to come with OEM rear flaps while the front was sold as an accessory. The Laura used to come with front as standard while the rear was optional!

Go figure!

5. 2 SKODA pillows.

Mud flaps were already fitted to the car. So I don't know if its part of the essential kit or accessory. I DID NOT buy any accessory apart from Essential kit.

Hi, I have not opted for the EA kit. Frankly, I couldn't find any value in it for the bomb they were charging.

I've already bought noodle floor mats, memory foam cushions, matching cushion covers and Amazonbasics phone cable from Amazon.in.
Would probably opt for the front mud flap and boot mat from Skoda.

Hi all

I've been reading the forums for years, and posting for the first time. I booked a Silver 1.8 TSi L&K about ten days ago (went to the showroom thinking I was getting the Quartz Grey, but they had just got a silver display car and it looked gorgeous, especially the contrast between the silver and black colours, so changed my mind there and then). I've been told it will take 8-10 weeks until delivery, and I'm okay if it turns out to be longer as I have my trusty old Civic to keep me company. Thought I'd share my thoughts based on my brief time in the L&K for the folks who haven't had a chance to see it in the flesh.

1. Leather quality is slightly better, the seats felt softer (marginal difference though)

2. The Canton sound system is definitely better, I don't think it has a subwoofer though (the sales associate kept insisting that the centre speaker in the dash is a subwoofer, but it didn't sound like one to me). The bass is more amplified, but mids are a bit muddled. My genre of choice is prog, and the track I chose to test the system is called Chewbacca by Liquid Tension Experiment

3. A couple of pictures, because based on what I've read on here, they truly are worth a thousand words...

I have two questions regarding a tyre upgrade that I would love to get your opinion on

1. I'm getting either the Michelin P3ST or the PS3 (225/50/16) on day 1. Can someone who has got the wider tyres installed tell me the effect on the ride comfort please?

2. In case I get the PS3s, I'd assume I'd have to change the spare wheel as well, any thoughts on how that impacts the boot? Space? load capacity?

Hi Derek, I'd recommend Saifi tyres in Santa Cruz off Linking Road. He did my Civic tyre replacement. Happy to see if he would consider a group discount if we end up getting our cars delivered around the same time. I had a word with them last week, and was quoted 8.5k on the P3ST and 12.5k on the PS3, and 5.5k on the stock tyre buyback per piece.

Did they confirm? I think I saw an L&K on the road over the weekend, at least definitely an Octavia that had just been delivered. When I called, my sales guy told me it would be January at the earliest.

Essential Accesory Kit Includes following;

Decorative Door Sill Cover Black
Mudflap Front (Rear is factory fitted)

Except Waste Basket and Mudlap - Front ; nothing is essential. Speak to them & get individual price of both & buy it separately.

Autocar roadtest of vRS in the usual superlative style. In this case, it is genuine as the vRS is truly fantastic :-)

However, I am irritated by the fact that they are praising the 'special' Michelin PS4 tyres a lot for contributing to the overall ride and handling. I thought Skoda India are giving ony Hankooks with the India vRS.

For example:

"And finally, one of the most serious testaments to its performance credentials are the tyres – a set of rather specialised Michelin Pilot Sports, measuring 225/45 ZR17 all round."

AND

"Those grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres also add to this, clinging onto the tarmac much better than any mainstream rubber you’ve ever tried."

I feel Autocar should either have clearly put a caveat that the test car had non-standard tyres OR asked for a standard car. Further, I hope they used normal petrol and not Speed 97? These niggling thoughts are what makes me never to really really trust an Indian auto mag's coverage.

True that. The road test made me rolook at the tyre specs before I took the RS delivery and they were no PS4s there I took the positive out of it and said to myself, at least there is one upgrade which I can still afford on the RS in due course
