Thanks to the Team-BHP fan (he prefers to remain anonymous) who sent this information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this page!

We have received information about Maruti's midterm plans and new product launches. Here's what we can expect from the brand in the months to come.

The current-generation Wagon R was supposed to go out of production this month. However, the company is likely to continue its production till November. Beyond that, only the commercial variant of the car will be produced.

Rumours of the next generation Wagon R have been floating around for a while now. Production of the car is expected to commence in November 2018 and the car is likely to be launched at the beginning of 2019.

The Alto K10 is expected to receive a facelift and the car is likely to be launched around March 2019. The next-generation Alto could be launched sometime during the next financial year.

Maruti is also expected to introduce facelifted versions of the Swift and Baleno in the next financial year. The company is expected to launch the all-new Swift in 2020.

The recent floods in Kerala have affected car sales, especially during the festival of Onam. It is believed that Maruti has halted production for 3 days due to an excess inventory of 40,000 cars at its factories. Therefore, customers can expect discounts on select models as the carmaker clears its stock.

Maruti is planning to set up a new manufacturing plant in Sohna near Gurgaon to achieve its production target of 5 million cars/year by 2030.

Something seems off to me. Why would Maruti launch a Swift facelift next year and an all new Swift in 2020? The new one was just launched at the beginning of 2018.

If anything, the Ignis might get a facelift. I obviously have no inside information and am just speculating. I'd love to know more though.

I find this difficult to believe. Reason? Simple. No test mules worth mentioning have actually been sighted testing on the roads. The only one with black tape all over spotted once seems to be the current gen to me, with a battery pack. If a launch was so close, we should have been seeing test mules more often.

Swift face lift? I don't think so. Swift Hybrid - possible. All New Swift in 2020 - Plain BS. The Swift is a global car. No chance of an "All New" Swift coming in 2020 without a single spotting so far.

Reports of Baleno and Vitara Brezza face-lifts have been reported by ET. Face-lift of Swift is highly doubtful.

All new Swift is possible in an EV form as could be earmarked for 2020/21.

Re: Video: A peek into Maruti's midterm strategy

Let's take this with a generous amount of salt. Swift has a much longer life cycle (~8 years). No chance of a facelift in 2020 let alone a generation change.

K10 may get special editions but not a facelift. This will help it remain competitive with the Kwid facelift. But it's not worth investing in a facelift when the crash test norms are expected to cover all cars very soon. And the K10 + 800 will be replaced with something safer. It may or may not carry the Alto name forward.

While the Alto name has a strong brand recall, it's still considered an entry-level model. Maruti is looking to move up the food chain. Giving up the Alto name will help. Possibly the Crosshiker can replace the Alto and become the new entry-level model as it can very well challenge the new Santro.

The longer WagonR we've been seeing could be the affordable alternative for 7-seater buyers as the Ertiga has moved up a notch and left some room down below. It could also serve as an alternative for the EECO buyers once that goes out of production for not meeting the safety requirements.

The Solio (WR 7 seater) may not make it to production. Any vehicle that is being tested for production will almost always be masked, unless they are only testing a new engine / battery pack. Since the Solio has always been spotted without disguise, its quite improbable that a launch will happen in India.
