I, for one, am sitting with my cheque book in hand if I get a good discount on the current gen Ecosport.
Your wish has been granted, at least here in NCR, but the discounts offered are not huge. 35k Cash + 20k Exchange (Ford Car, else 15k) bonus.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs-05_10_2017_112_008-ecosport.jpg

Dealers might sweeten the deal with further 15-20k.

Not worth the jump, i feel as the new face-lift will be at more or less at the same price.

Ford India has taken the wraps off a new petrol engine, a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre (1,497cc), 3-cylinder Ti-VCT motor. It is tuned to produce a peak power output of 123PS @ 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 150Nm @ 4,500 rpm. Compared to the existing 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder mill, the new engine produces 10 per cent more power and 7 per cent more torque. The engine will come mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic.

The new engine will make its debut with the mid-life update of the Ford EcoSport, which will go on sale later this year. This engine will be built at Ford’s Sanand plant in Gujarat, for both domestic products and exports across the globe. Ford says that its engineering team in India has contributed significantly in developing this engine, which will comprise of 80 per cent locally sourced parts.

Imminent launch?

I'm not sure. Just spoke to a person in the know this morning and I was told that the launch is next month only.

The NA 1.5 Litre engine looks good on paper. At the cost of repeating myself, hoping Ford can recreate some "Ikon"ic magic with an S version of Eco Sport with a lowered ride height and good running gear

re: The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs

Ford has officially shed more light on Dragon 1.5 petrol engine on their website at https://www.india.ford.com/about-for...petrol-engine/

Key points they focus on:
  • Branding: Made in India and being exported to all over the world
  • Utility: Higher fuel efficiency to the tune of 7%. This means that in real world city driving, the mileage would increase from 12 km/liter to close to 13 km/liter (not a great noticeable difference). This is also due to the engine being lighter with only 3 cylinders instead of 4 cylinders
  • Power: 123 bhp power and 150 Nm torque
  • Better city driving: They are stressing on lower rpm torque through the optimization of the engine's bore and stroke ratios
  • Lower NVH
The petrol Ecosport should surely be a hit. Tata Nexon has lower bhp with a turbo-charged though smaller engine. Nothing like a naturally aspirated petrol as the costs of maintenance will also be lower over the long run.

Good video showcasing few of the main aspects of the Dragon engine. The video is in hindi though:
  1. The gearbox is going to be a 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic.
  2. Better mileage, more power and less emission compared to the outgoing 4 cylinder 1.5 petrol.
  3. Refer 03:53 - The host has mentioned they would be driving the Ecosport facelift by October end, and the vehicle launch will be by November mid.

and here's another interesting video I found over on YT. Talks in detail about the Brasilian version of the ES.

The interiors of the car will remain the same so worth a look.

Though its a small thing, any idea will the option to change colors in ambient light will be available in Indian version, like what maruti does to its latest cars now?

re: The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs

Looking at the following September sales numbers for Ford, it looks highly unlikely that Ford will launch Ecosport this month.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing in India. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 7.31 lakhs-159887.jpg

4934 units were shipped in September which means even more time will be required for dealers to clear this stock.

Last 3 moths, the number of units shipped have been consistently above 4k units. Usually before launch we see a huge dip in sales numbers

Now it looks like a December launch with deliveries from January.

Recieved a call from the fortune ford lady, Hyderabad. Was enquiring if I was interested in any of the cars. I for once asked when are you planning to accept bookings for the New Ecosport. She strikingly answered next month.
This is an update to the previously reluctant answers like 'no we have no official information', 'sorry sir no confirmation', 'not this year sir'!
So may be the launch in November, prices in December, Deliveries in 2018.

Something similar to report from Harpreet Ford, New Delhi. They are one of the leading Ford dealers in the country and have finally changed their tone. They will be accepting bookings from next month onwards too.

Though I'm hoping against hope for deliveries starting November!
