Summary:

There will be a total of 5 variants on offer on the Compass. The base spec will be known as the Sport. The other 4 variants are the Longitude, Longitude (O), Limited and Limited (O).. There will be a total of 2 engine options on offer, the 2.0 liter turbo diesel making 170 Bhp and 350 Nm and a 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine making 160 Bhp and 250 Nm.

Got a call too from Pune office mentioning the same details mentioned below, nothing new. In my case the guy didn't even say that its gonna be around 17/18 starting point

Hope you are budgeting for double the price tag that the Compass will carry over the WRV.

Bit surprised by this cross shopping, as the Compass would probably slot in two segments above the WRV.

I understand, you are right. However, It is only after watching/reading the reviews and all these speculations, i am somehow getting convinced to increase the budget to 2 folds.
I think being 80% localised, amazing looks, interiors and such quality consciousness, this can be a value for money deal. Only hitch is the ASS, and i again hope that this FCA will address.
Looking forward to see this Jeep in showroom and then finalise.

Thanks for sharing. There are a few contradictions in the article but overall it's good to hear that the underpinnings are working well. I am also glad to hear that it takes corners well which is definitely a plus. At the 20-25L price band, this should sell really well.

I am definitely concerned by one thing. It feels to me that there's a load of hyper-enthusiasm around this. And definitely when such things happen, it is bound to either be a really hot seller or fall flat on it's side. I have a few friends who own Jeeps in the US and they absolutely love it for what fun it delivers but absolutely hate it for it's unreliability. Parts coming off, constant changes to electronic items and just flat out mechanical problems. I just hope they don't do that with the Compass. The running joke is that the final destination of all Jeep trips is the workshop.

I am not dissing them but I just want to make sure they are not covering their product's ineptness with all this hype. The punishment in the hands of Indian buyers are typically extreme.

+1 on this. In my earlier posts on this thread I have been constantly reminding the forum on the Jeep brand reliability issues in America.
My co brother is down from America and over dinner was casually discussing Jeep Compass and it's impending launch , he just had a wry smile and just said that it will be more workshop than your garage. He has an RAV4 with 170 k miles and 15 years.

Indian market will be ruthless if they get it wrong. Let's just hope "all is well ".

Details on the Jeep Compass

Engine Options:

1. Diesel:
A 2.0 liter turbocharged​ mill making 170 Bhp and 350 Nm

2. Petrol
A 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine making 160 Bhp and 250 Nm.

Transmission Details

1. 6-speed manual
2. 7-speed dual-clutch automatic

The diesel model will get the Selec-Terrain traction management system and Jeep Active Drive four-wheel drive system exclusive to the Limited grades.

Variant Details

There will be a total of 5 variants on offer on the Compass.

• Base Variant = Sport
• Mid Variant = Longitude & Longitude (O)
• Top Variant = Limited & Limited (O)

Sport:

The Sport will be on offer in both the diesel and petrol guise. It will be only offered with the 6-speed manual transmission. It will get the 5″ U connect touch screen infotainment system, 16″ alloys, halogen headlamps, all black interiors , electric folding mirrors, electric park brake, all 4 disc brakes, ABS, EBD, TCS as well as dual airbags up front.

Longitude:

This will only be on offer in the diesel 2.0 guise. In addition to the Sport trim, it will get front and rear fog lamps, beige and black interiors, 17″ alloys, keyless go and push button start as well as rear parking sensors.

Longitude (O):

This too will only be on offer in the diesel 2.0 liter trim. This will be had with a 7″ U Connect touch screen system that is compatible with Apple Carplay and Android auto. It will also get dual zone climate control and projector headlamps, in addition to black roof rails.

Limited:

The Limited can be had in both petrol and diesel guise. Features include LED tail lamps, rear camera, leather seats, leather steering wheel, Selec-Terrain with 4×4, AWD transmission (4×4), front side and curtain airbags (4×4) and it will get grey interiors.

Limited (O):

The Limited (O) will be available with HID headlamps and a black roof.

Colour Options

1. Exotica red,
2. Brillian black,
3. Minimal grey,
4. Hydro blue and
5. Vocal white.
