2nd-gen Maruti Dzire Tour launched at INR 5.24 lakhs

Quote:
Based on the second generation Swift Dzire.

The 2017 Maruti Swift Dzire Tour has silently been launched in India at a starting price of INR 5.24 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol variant, while the Swift Dzire Tour diesel is priced at INR 5.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

The exterior is a stripped-down version of the outgoing Swift Dzire featuring a black plastic grille and bumper embellishers, a swept back halogen headlamps, silver steel wheels, body-painted A-pillar and black ORVM enclosures. The Swift Dzire Tour can be had in white, silver or black exterior colours.

Inside, it retains the dual-tone beige and black interior of the regular Swift Dzire with beige fabric upholstery, and wood trim garnished on the dashboard and door cards. There’s not much in the way of equipment, but it has an MID and power window controls.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire Tour launched at INR 5.24 lakhs

The USP of the old Dzire tour was the large luggage boot.
It was particularly helpful in stowing away those bulky bags during the railway station and airport runs.

The sub 4metre "new" Dzire Tour will not have that luxury any more.

Expect to see a lot of them running around with roof racks attached with all sorts of cargo hanging off from it ! Good for the aftermarket roof rack makers though.

It seems like the prices of old and new dzire tours are same. The greedy maruti has not passed on the excise benefits to customers. They can now see the business lost to xcent prime.

@ The Brutailer

Second generation will continue to be available for the taxi market as a basic 'tour' variant, while the all new third generation will be available for private buyers. Prices for the third generation would be kept higher as well.

+1 to that. The first gen Dzire was more suited to Taxi market than its sub 4m counterpart.

They introduce old gen as tour, whenever there is a model change. This helps in

1. Maintaining healthy spares support of the old gen car.

2. A new offering escapes from being labelled as a cab, thus maintaining its aspirational value.

Shashi

That isn't entirely true. There are plenty of current-gen Swift & DZire cabs, have been for a long time. Actually, the first-gen Tour variant are predominantly Airport cabs.

I'm guessing Maruti will aggressively target the cab aggregator segment, as the 2nd-gen is useless for any kind of 'Family' luggage

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Dzire Tour launched at INR 5.24 lakhs

Thanks to a Team-BHP fan, we had scooped this a couple of months back. A lot of people doubted the April timing then, but here it is.

Cab customers will surely miss the big boot of the old Dzire, but:

1. They will enjoy the nicer ride quality & cabin. The old Dzire was well...so outdated! I dreaded getting one when booking a taxi.

2. A majority of orders are coming in from the app-based cab operators. I'm guessing that airport runs form a small part of overall trips. Plus, customers always have the option of selecting larger cars at the time of booking.

The new "DZire Tour" has the "Swift" tag on it, but the new "DZire" won't have it! What kind of branding is that? Either Maruti has to add it to all DZire models, or remove from all.

Also, even though the chrome lining on the front grill is changed to black, the chrome at the rear is kept in tact! Thy should have opted for a different front grill altogether, as they did with the current first gen Tour.

Looks good for people on a tight budget. Is this available only for taxi registration as usual?

No, many personal buyers have also bought the Dzire tour, and registered it for non commercial use if they find it's good enough for their purpose. No restrictions on that front.

Shashi

The reasoning is that the 2017 Dzire is not based on the New Swift but the earlier Dzire is based on the Swift ( Swift + boot = Swift Dzire)

Just back from my vacation and surprisingly on each of my airport drops/pick-ups I got the DZire with UberX. Thankfully the older version had enough boot space to swallow our luggage. Cannot imagine the same with the new version.

It would be very unfair for the end user to have the "new" DZire Tour and larger vehicles like Etios/Verito/Logan/Ertiga in the same UberX bracket.

Jokes apart, it is still based on the Swift platform, right? The first and second gen DZires were born with changes to the Swift around C-pillar onwards, but the new one is born with changes around A-pillar onwards. The face, platform, engines, lower body panels... all remain the same as the new Swift, I guess.

Here is the answer to it and NDTV puts it across,

Quote:
The sedan is not simply ‘a Swift with a boot’. This is amply clear when you find out it’s A-Pillar is angled more sharply down to create a more obvious sedan silhouette.
Though the platforms are same,

Quote:
What you get with the new car is a new platform – Suzuki’s B platform or as Maruti likes to brand it, ‘Heartect’. This is a derivative of the same platform that the Baleno is built on of course
