According to the dealership I've been interacting with, Honda has been contemplating a hike but haven't decided the effective date and are yet to communicate the revised pricing to the dealers. I was told they will know the pricing by April 15th.

Hello Everyone,
What is the offset(ET) of stock alloys (15 inch)on Honda City, is it 53 ET ?
One of my friend is looking to upgrade the stock wheels to after market alloys with the below spec , will the difference in Rim Width(5.5J vs 6.5J) , Offset cause any issue ?

Stock Spec 15x5.5Jx?? ET
After market Alloy spec 15x6.5Jx38 ET

A price hike for other models is understandable, but it's not fair to hike prices of City so soon. They had all the time in the world to know all the input costs before launching it. Honda should hold the prices for City for at least 6 months.

It's a case of make hay while the sun shines. I've been told that since brv sees an increase of 15k and accord 18k, therefore logically city will be slotted between these two. However, I feel that since it has the numbers, they will test their luck by stretching the prices. Therefore, don't be surprised if city see a jump in prices. Am personally expecting a 20k+ hike.

Re: 2017 Honda City Facelift : A Close Look

I made my booking for Honda City Petrol V MT at Dakshin Honda, Hosur Road, Bangalore on 15th April. Opted for color "Modern Steel" and the SA has put delivery target as "within 2 months". He was saying that the new price may come by 17 Apr, anyone has any news on that ? The V MT pricing in Bangalore is very tricky at 9,99,990/- as of now. An increase will make it cross the 10 lakhs barrier and road tax shoots up from 14% to 17%. I am eagerly waiting for news on this. V MT makes lot of sense at nearly 12 lakhs OTR in Bangalore where the VX MT is coming around 14.6 OTR. But with a price hikof even 10 Rs for V, would reduce the difference with VX by 30K ! In that scenario, I wmay switch to V CVT or VX MT.

Still hoping Honda would retain the pricing of V MT at least in Bangalore !

Congrats Have you checked with other dealers if any cars are available ?

Just curious, for 30k less difference you want to pay 2.3L extra ? Also wont the price of VX MT also increase ?

I personally could not justify the 2.6L difference between V and Vx. I did not think you get much for the extra money you are paying. Yes you cannot have the extra features other than the bigger alloys fitted from outside, but they did not seem that essential in the Indian context. The V is pretty much loaded.

I haven't checked with other dealers. It is quite natural that V has a longer waiting period, given the "value for money" proposition compared to VX. I agree, even with the price hike and new road tax bracket, the difference with VX would be in excess of 2 lakhs. I can't justify it myself ! Even for a CVT, I feel the difference is too steep for the same variant. But at least CVT brings a major functional difference compared to the cosmetic and "good to have" features of VX.

I would still say check it out. Whitefield Field Honda had said 1 month for me but when I inquired with Sapphire Honda they quoted 10 days and I got my car by then, though on temporary registration. Got delayed due to bank loan disbursement issues.

Re: 2017 Honda City Facelift : A Close Look

Digipad fails.
I was midway writing an ownership review of my 2017 modern steel metallic City vx cvt that the digipad system in it failed.
Delieved on thursday, barely 4 days after that -the audio video navigation /music system dubbed Digipad on my city failed.
Being an android system I thought the initial Samsung galaxy kind of hangs were normal, last day the system froze during operation , which was reverted back to normal after switching on/off . After that the live wallpaper stopped and no touch inputs were registered. Shortly after this the screen went blank and wouldnt turn back on.
Called up the service centre -they confirmed the issue and have promised a replacement.
Deeply saddened by the state of affairs - the new car is rendered useless as of now without any form of infotainment system. Raises questions about the durability of the android based system.
The service guys first want to remove the system then send it to the company that manufactures the system. only after they investigate the problem do I get a replacement product, this would take a while. Guys how can I escalate the problem and speed up the process? Frustrated with the situation.

Agree that the "digipad" isn't that great in terms of reliability. For me, the bluetooth streaming is fairly buggy. This sorely needs a software update to fix things. When I had heard this was developed by HCIL (Honda India) I had my reservations

Re: 2017 Honda City Facelift : A Close Look

I guess everyone is facing some issue or the other with Digipad. Has Quadmaniac mentioned bluetooth streaming and USB is 'buggy'. The songs fade out suddenly and some back in. The Radio and the rear view camera is the only thing that works well. The navigation also sometimes loses GPS connectivity inside the city itself. I still haven't received the wifi dongle to get live traffic updates which am sure would end up as a issue as well. It desperately needs a software update.

I also noted slight fade effects in between audio playbacks, it automatically raised or lowered volume during a song. Unlike the new infotainment system in mahindra xuv 500, you cannot install 3rd party apps into the system, correct me if i am wrong, i did not find any ways to do that. The service manager hinted at a new system update that will fix the iphone pairing problems. He also said they will bring in android auto and carplay in subsequent updates( he did not seem like a relible source so I have my reservations on that.)

The dealership called last evening to confirm that the car I booked had come to the yard. I did the PDI this morning and checked the digipad based on ajayishanku, quadmaniac and Altocumulus' experiences and there were no issues to report. However, all the issues mentioned above have occurred after using it over a period of time (mine was just for a few minutes).

During inspection I realized the spare wheel for VMT is steel. Can other V variant owners confirm that? I didn't find any major issues with the car so I have asked them to proceed with registration. I should have the car by mid of next week.

As an aside: I had gone to a yard shared with other manufacturers as well and there were many cars lying around with serious damage - crushed windshields, crumpled roof, C pillar etc. When asked, SA said they were due to Cyclone Vardah. I wonder what they will do with these vehicles.

The service centers are very well aware of the issues with the Digipad, I was told that nearly every car that has come for the first service has reported issues with the system. They are going to communicate the same to Honda soon, hopefully an update should sort things out.

If you get a chance to see the vehicle again, check all the doors for their beadings, my rear right door was missing a lower rubber beading and I would get all the dirt and dust on the door-sills, it was fixed during the first service. Other 2017 City owners of the initial batch have also faced this issue.

Regarding the spare wheel, your V variant has 15 inch alloys with a steel spare wheel only. The VX and ZX variants get 16 inch alloy wheels with a same spec 16 inch alloy spare wheel.

Re: 2017 Honda City Facelift : A Close Look

Still no news of the price hike. Was it just a ruse? Has anyone here heard any news on this issue? Ever since I told my S.A. that am contemplating cancellation of my booking due to the price rise, he's not got back to me.
