Toyota Fortuner crosses 1 lakh sales in India

Toyota India has announced that it has sold more than 1 lakh Fortuners in India till now, since the butch, premium SUV was introduced in our market back in 2009.

The Fortuner has been a segment bestseller ever since it's inception in our domestic market, topping the charts for most of it's sales career.

The current-gen Fortuner, introduced in India only a couple of months back, has already sold over 2,000 units and with a waiting list of nearly 5,000 more pre-orders, is commanding a very healthy waiting period. It is well on it's way to become a resounding success, just like it's illustrious predecessors.

This is a stupendous achievement.

Kudos to Toyota. This shows the confidence of Indians on the brand and on the product.

Wonder if someone could give information on the total number of Fortuners sold worldwide.

I'm glad that "now" I'm on the "greener" side of the competition.

Now that is a great number to achieve for a car that is well over 20 Lac. Fortuner is a popular choice amongst the premium SUV segment and Toyota's reliability is just like icing on the cake. Fortuner surely deserves this place. Good to see that 2nd generation Fortuner is also doing good numbers in initial time period, just like the 1st generation and is appealing to masses.

Kudos to Toyota

Toyota Fortuner is the best in class from the very first day it was launched.

It simply took away the market by its sheer street presence and definitely toyota's brand value and after sales service.

Even the mighty endeavour in latest avatar can't do much harm due to toyota badge shining on fortuner.

Fortuner proved itself to be the leader in premium suv segment and will continue to lead if priced cleverly close to competition.

Great to read this. The Toyota Fortuner is indeed a great looking SUV with impressive road presence. If data is available, of the 1L sold, would be good to see the split between private owners versus Govt. / Commercial segments.

Indeed, that's quite an achievement, but not as much as the XUV500 (a 15 lakh Mahindra selling 1 lakh in <3 years), Creta (selling ~8,000 copies / month) or even Toyota's new & expensive Innova Crysta!

Definitely! Another thing that helped the Fortuner's cause is the sheer number of Landcruisers & Prados we saw in this country earlier. Those helped in building the image of a 'Toyota SUV'.
