re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

No changes to the Ciaz in the Nexa

Got confirmation from Nexa RM who says that the Ciaz demo car to Nexa has arrived and it is the same as in Maruti Suzuki showroom

So no changes in this version of the Ciaz. All of us were speculating about 1.5 Liter petrol engine, 1.6 Diesel engine, cosmetic updates like front grille and bumper, additional features like cruise control,...etc
None of that is coming. Real shame on Suzuki given that Honda have come up with so many updates to the City in the facelift. Too long to catch up now and we might see City much ahead of Ciaz in coming months

re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

I just returned from NEXA to check on a car for my friend . The RM had confirmed that CIAZ will be sold from Nexa from next month onwards and changes are expected which are limited to exterior and engine remains same. When I was probing whether sun roof will be part of the changes ,he kept quiet and stated he will not be able to disclose anything. Let's hope Suzuki plans to provide more features to challenge city as it would be benefical to customers !

Maruti has been playing it safe and sure when it comes to the Ciaz. We all know that the biggest mistake they made with the SX4 was that they didn't prepare for the surprise Honda had in store with the 3rd generation City. When we all thought Maruti has the upper hand against the 2nd generation city - Honda just took the game away with one major shot.

With the Ciaz, they waited for the 4th generation City - Did the proper benchmarking against it and released the Ciaz almost after 3 quarters of the launch of the City. Making sure there are no surprises in store.

I believe the same strategy would be in place for the facelift as well. An April launch means they would have played it blind against the City facelift. The rumoured facelift of the Ciaz should be launched by Diwali 2017 and they would try to cover the new features in the City, atleast directly in features or in terms of value, in my opinion. Meanwhile, it would mostly move to NEXA now with minimal changes.

NDTV's Sid Patankar tweets that there are no new changes in Ciaz except for the blue colour (pictured below), which looks quite snazzy.

This blue color was first spotted way back in 2014. Don't know what took them so long to introduce it.

Quote:
RS Kalsi Executive director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, "currently NEXA dealership contribute to 12% of over company's overall sales and going forward with products like Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Ciaz the company expects at least 15% contribution from NEXA network of total sales
Quote:
existing customers of Ciaz will get the same experience of Nexa customers from now on not only on updates and offers, but also service experiences at workshops.

re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

No details on Nexa pricing as yet? Currently discounts of 40,000 (exchange bonus), 10,000 (cash discount) - will affect sales if they remove these or worse still bump up prices just for the Nexa move

No changes at all! Really a shame that the top end sedan from Suzuki in India lacks cruise control.
The blue colour is easily the top contender for the best looking Ciaz. Maybe the brown runs close

Yes, the uplift will probably come up later this year with 1.5 L petrol and 1.5 L diesel engines. Given that Tata has done such a great job with their in-house CRDI engines for the Hexa, believe Maruti Suzuki will nail the 1.5 L diesel engine this time similar to how they have done with the petrol boosterjet and earlier with K-series

re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

Now that, as it's not a face lifted version, does it mean that it'll be available as vxi or zxi? Similarly, will the lower variant miss your on safety kit even when it becomes a nexa product?

re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

As stated by many Ciaz will not get any updates now. Here is the confirmation.

Quote:
When asked if the company would add new features to the sedan, Kalsi said: "Not now. We might look at it at some appropriate time".
Quote:
Currently, the Nexa channel accounts for around 12 per cent of the total sales.

By 2020, with more models to come in, we expect the Nexa channel to account for 25 per cent of the total sales in the domestic market

re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

Nexa Ciaz will not get any updates for now, its understood.

But how about the ZXi+ AT equivlant variant for the Ciaz in the Nexa lineup? Will it be available ?

The question arises because the Nexa Lineup currently does not provide top end variant for AT cars. Whereas the MUL Ciaz had the ZXi+ for AT also.

The ZXI+ is equivalent to Alpha Grade in NEXA Cars. So, ZXI+ AT will be known as Alpha AT in this case. While ZXI AT will be badged as Zeta AT.

The badging will be as follows,
Sigma - (V)
Delta - (V+)
Zeta - (Z)
Alpha - (Z+)

re: Maruti Ciaz shifts to Nexa dealerships

I think MSIL is having great production constraints, other wise I don't see why they would shift the Ciaz to the NEXA from it's regular dealerships. It's doing great numbers and that may come down due to lesser NEXA dealerships.
They should have at least given it a new petrol engine at least, that hasn't happened. So it's the same old wine in the same old bottle but now with a different 'peddler'! All said and done a great product from MSIL.

I guess this is the NEW CITY effect wherein they would like to place Ciaz in the premium category followed by a price hike.

Maurti was always keen on changing their brand image from a mass car manufacturer to premium car segment. Anyways India is the only market for them worldwide to place themselves in a premium category, hence this move.

Cheers!
