Re: Volkswagen Ameo 1.5L Diesel launched at Rs. 6.33 lakh

Instead of all this "Cut Short" nonsense, why don't these fellows give us a larger extended Polo Hatch with a fatter, wickeder engine in it?

The Polo is such a goodlooking car already. This Ameo is an ugly monstrosity in comparison.

This penchant of us Indian Joe's for these blighted Cut Short sedans ought to be Cut Short by the manufacturers themselves.

The implementation of GST would most likely be the end of compact sedan era. Thankfully, we are not looking at many CS's after Kite 5, which would be the last to enter the segment. Compact SUV would remain the trend for the next 5-10 years.

Except the swift dzire, the other CS's will probably be marooned upon the implementation of GST.

Interesting input. Thanks. I had no idea that GST would impact in this manner.

I think these "special concessions" if any, should only be given to emission efficiency, proven fuel efficiency, safety norms leadership and of course, alternative fuels.

But then, we have a dam fool govt on top of us. What to do?

Re: Volkswagen Ameo 1.5L Diesel launched at Rs. 6.33 lakh

Took delivery of (my wife's) Ameo Highline TDI DSG Candy White.
This will be her primary car.
Here are a few pictures clicked before delivery.
The car is amazing to drive, lots of torque. In S Mode the car feels super quick.

Congrats satya180 on your latest acquisition and it looks gorgeous, especially with that wrapped roof

The snaps look good but the location looks even better buddy. Did you actually take the delivery of your Ameo directly from the VW plant in Chakan??

Please post an ownership review at the earliest and happy motoring.

Same question that came to my mind. Wow. The pictures look straight out of a brochure.

Frankly, in my last decade spent here on team-bhp, haven't seen anything this beautiful clicked before taking delivery of the car.

Congrats on your new car satya180. Sure looks nice with the gloss black roof. Is that standard on the TDi DSG?

Thank you all for the kind words. The gloss black wrap was done at the showroom itself, they use 3M.
Here are a few more unedited pictures from the same evening. Shot by me on an iPhone6 and Samsung S7 Edge.

Here is one more from the front.

Congrats Satya180 for your family's new member.

Has anyone took the TD of manual Diesel?
Been hearing a lot about its heavy, long clutch.I'm about to book one, but this review about clutch keeps me in worry. My daily drive includes 15kms in moderate to heavy traffic in Bangalore roads.

I couldn't agree more, while the car itself has tremendous value. The design philosophy is as poor as that of the first generation Swift Dzire.

Though confusing for product positioning, it may have made more design sense to bring in the Ameo as a notch back (ala Hyundai Accent Viva from the previous decade).

PS: Just saw the OTR prices in Bangalore for the Ameo and its retailing at what the Vento was back in 2013. Phew !!!

Re: Volkswagen Ameo 1.5L Diesel launched at Rs. 6.33 lakh

After seeing your pics I'm very much inclined to owning one in white. Mind says mini SUV, BREZZA or ECOSPORT, given Bengaluru roads but heart says Ameo/Aspire. Lol. guess I'll leave it to folks at home to decide.

Ameo looks great in white, specifically where you've taken the photographs.
Personally, I'm not much fond of compact sedans but the practicality they offer is great for their price & their external size which makes them drivable in almost every situation of today's time, be it a city or highway or congested roads plus you get sedan like comfort, performance & feel, hence worth considering.
Ameo with super powerful 110PS diesel engine & DSG gearbox takes this experience to altogether different level. I guess it would a fun tool for every driving situation which even enthusiast or even a enthusiast with a bit of tight budget demands.

Do share your complete ownership experience Ameo in a dedicated thread.

A more powerful Ameo (GT TDI or GT TSI) coming soon?

FB's resident ScoopMeister recently spotted this Ameo test mule riding on 16-inch tyres with a different alloy pattern.

Re: Volkswagen Ameo 1.5L Diesel launched at Rs. 6.33 lakh

Any ownership/initial test drive reviews of the Ameo TDI with DSG gear box?

I tried to search for Team-bhp official review, but not successful.

Have been using the DSG highline for a little less than 2 months now. Have covered almost 1400 km now and will be out of the running in period specified in the manual. Glad to answer any specific queries you have.

Hello mtnrajdeep, I would request you to please post your ownership review. By this time you would have completed 6 months ownership experience with Ameo DSG. May be its a right time for you to put your observations and experiences here.
