Is there any reason why you got a new DL? I believe DL upon renewal will have same number and only validity gets extended with other changes. In app, you can refresh after renewal.

Thanks. Uninstalled the app (as there was no update showing) and reinstalled. The new app asked to re-register. I registered with the same phone number.
Was able to login but no details of vehicles & DL which were stored earlier is visible. Checked all tabs. Also, not able to add the same vehicles again as it displays a message that "provided document already registered with citizen".
Any tip?

EDIT: After a while, closing and reopening the app has fetched all previous vehicles and DLs regd. Thanks for your timely update!

Re: Parivahan - Portal for Road Transport from MORTH

My license was expiring in Oct 2024 and needed to be renewed. Many around me asked to just contact an agent and get it done in 1.5-2K. My initial reaction was also the same. Then one of my college friend suggested to do it via parivahan portal itself as renewal under 40 does not need a RTO visit in person. Decided to try that and it's a mixed bag.

The portal itself is superb. The process was seamless and very clear on what needs to be done. After each stage, it clearly showed what is done and what is pending. Once all process was done, it asked for payment which was around 500-600. Once that is done, then the request got transferred to local RTO. Scrutiny phase was quick even when they asked for extra information. Once scrutiny was sucess, it moved to "Approval of endorsements" and this is where it got tricky for me. I thought approval would be done in max a weeks time since all previous steps took less than that. I feel lucky that I had applied it in mid August itself. My request was stuck in approval phase from last week of August till yesterday. In between that, I raised multiple complaints, sent out mails to parivahan site but nothing worked. Finally 3 days back, I got a reply saying that only local RTO can help to move this. I had been following up local RTO level also via mails and phone since a week. I had sent mails to MVD head, RTO and JRTO(joint) few days back with no reaults. Yesterday I replied again on top of my mail pleading them to approve as there was only 5 days pending for my license expiry. I guess my pleading did the trick as within 5 minutes of sending mail, my endorsements were approved and license got renewed.

Now printing and courier might take sweet time but I am not worried as the renewal is showing in parivahan and digilocker which is what I will use till the time I get physical copy of my DL.

Overall, I would still recommend this to everyone as we really don't need to spend giving money to agents/brokers.

Re: Parivahan - Portal for Road Transport from MORTH

Has anyone tried to take delivery of their new car with only the temporary registration, and then go about registering the car yourself and pay the road tax online at the Parivahan website or at the RTO?

I am pretty sure dealers would scam us on this as well considering they shamelessly quote 2x amount for the insurance.

It would help many of us here if there are general guidelines of the procedure laid out.

In this age of Parivahan, does anyone knows change of ownership (selling the car) reflects online within few days and only the printed RC card takes it's own time?

I did it last year. Got the car from Chandigarh, specifically told them to only get a temporary number before paying up as I would be registering it at another RTO. You will need to tell them which RTO you intent to register the car at.The dealer gave me a NoC from the local RTO ( from where the temporary number was issued) with that intended RTO specifically mentioned on it.
Took the car to the other RTO with that NoC. They traced the chassis & engine number to tally, I paid the registration fee and was issued a permanent number without any hassles.

Thanks!

I don't have any RTO preferences, just don't want to overpay and fall for the usual scams.

Oldnone was expired. New one has a different number. DL number in my state has a year (yyyy) in it for the year license was issues. So every time you renew itnwould be different from previous one.
