I prefer mParivahan as its fairly simple to pull details (over Digilocker). I got the details of 2 of my vehicles + my DL (issued in Kerala). Yet to try PUC or insurance details.

Edit:: Can anyone confirm if PUC & Insurance details can be added in mParivahan? Dont see an option in the app, would love to do if an option is available.

You can get your insurance policy on the app. Go to home -->Banking & Insurance --> select insurance company. Provide the details they ask for and the document should be downloaded. Make sure the name on your insurance policy is the exact same as the name on your Aadhar card otherwise it doesn't work.

Few states have integrated PUC with mParivahan. So you can see validity of PUC in the RC dashboard as well.

Regarding insurance, the Virtual RC captures details of your policy, provider name, policy number along with validity anyway. So you need not download any soft copy.

But every time you renew that policy, make sure to "refresh" the existing virtual RC and that will instantly update renewed policy details in the virtual RC including validity date.

I don't think Karnataka has integrated PUC with mParivahan. Both my cars don't show the PUC status even though both have valid PUC.

Yes. You are right. Karnataka has not integrated the PUC information in mParivahan.

In Digi-locker, there was an option to search for PUC couple of years before. It is no more available there also.

So, for those states where PUC is not integrated, physical PUC certificate need to be carried.

Whenever I renew my Insurance, My Digi-locker used to get updated once I do the "refresh" button there.
But, this time even after 2 months, the insurance is not getting refreshed. It still shows the last year insurance.

mParivahan shows the updated insurance though.

mParivahan do not have any functionality for the user to add documents into the application.
Digi-Locker has it.

But, the issue with Digi-locker is that user uploaded documents are not considered as valid e-documents during a Vehicle check on road.
In Digi-Locker, documents available in the "Issued Documents" section is only valid.
The uploaded section is just a placeholder for the user to store any documents as a cloud safe storage.

In Maharashtra, Mparivahan shows both Insurance and PUC validity dates in registration details.

Unfortunately I find Digilocker's functionality a bit buggy when it comes to some type of documents and it does not show details of PUC and insurance for your vehicles.

This is same for all states sheel except PUC. I was referring to PUC that few states have integrated into mParivahan and few states are yet to, including Karnataka.

I think PUC done from Delhi is integrated into mParivahan but PUC done in Haryana is not integrated.

My HR-26 car's PUC details are not there in mParivahan. PUC was done in Gurgaon.

I got PUC done in my My DL car in April 2019 (valid till April 2020) from Delhi and it is showing in mParivahan. But, PUC done in December 2019 of the same car in Gurgaon (free bank promotion camp in my society) is not there in mParivahan.

There is a provision for sharing documents on the digilocker app.

Can someone in my family, with whom i share vehicle RC using this share feature, drive my car carrying only this shared digital RC in 'his' digilocker app on his mobile?

If you register your car in mParivahan, there is an option to share your RC. You can share RC with your wife or anyone else (provide her mobile number in app) and it will will appear in her mParivahan app. You can select duration of sharing (1 month/6 months/1year).
