Looks like Nissan India is making some serious changes to its model line up. Micra to be offered only in CVT variant!! Manual gearbox to offered only in Active trim!

No news on the XTrail Hybrid. I thought that too was to be launched this year.

The XV Premium variant with 4 airbags was available in diesel only and not in Petrol earlier as far as I remember. Thanks.

Re: Major changes to Nissan India's lineup

Micra Petrol in only CVT avatar confirms how strongly the company feels about the product in terms of reliability, cost of ownership, and market acceptance of CVT.

Automatics (barring AMT) are still considered to be premium offerings from any manufacturer, and premium products are picked up generally by the more demanding lot. I hope that Nissan will work towards further improvement of after sales experience for its customers to ensure that their revised line-up keeps on finding new homes.

One thing that puzzles me here is the significant presence of Micra in southern India both in personal use segment as well as among commercial (taxi); removal of manual petrol option altogether means the commercial customers will be diverting to "Go"? or that the CVT is so very reliable that it can also withstand commercial use?
