Has anyone driven the petrol Fortuner yet? Any feedback? I wish Toyota had launched it with 4WD and I'd have picked it up for sure.

Firstly, I have some questions. No Offence.
1. Have all your previous cars been Petrol one's ?
2. Are you looking only at a Petrol Car ?
Now, This might sound silly,
3. Do you own a Petroleum Outlet ?
If not, I would say the Diesel Fortuner is much better then Petrol one.
Because, in a heavy car the Torque on tap makes all the difference. And the Diesel Fortuner will score better here. Also, Petrol SUVs consume a lot & are literally pocket burning.
Unless, you are against Diesel you shouldn't consider the Petrol Fortuner at all.

Nope. It has been a mix of both.

Yes, unless I am cornered into a situation like the one with Fortuner wherein the 4WD option is available only in diesel.

Agreed. I have driven enough diesels to realize this.

I'd say the expense part would depend on your monthly running, right?

I sort of am, given the fact that sooner or later all diesel engines, however modern they might be, end up emitting black plumes. It is not just on a whim that most European countries are planning to ban diesel cars altogether in the near future.
Coming back to the point, has anyone on the forum had a chance to drive the petrol Fortuner?
Update on my booking
My car was despatched yesterday and has been unloaded at Lanson Toyota stock point in Poonamallee.
As I'm traveling, I will be seeing the car on Saturday morning and complete the payment formalities in the afternoon and arrange registration and delivery in the 1st week of Jan.clap:
My car will be invoiced at old price :D
Congrats MAS, but can u wait till January to get ur hands on the new car. In my case, I didn't wait a minute after seeing the new Fortuner and went ahead for exchange of my old Fortuner. Anyways ur model will be 2016 only, though delivered in 2017.
All the best with ur new beast clap:

Thank you!!
Toyota has announced a 3% price increase from 1st Jan 2017. Since I intend to own the car for a longer period of time, I don't mind a 2016 vehicle.
I could use the 1.2 Lakhs (3% increase) to buy TGA.
But, if Toyota rolls back its decision to increase price, I will be on the losing end.
Update
Checked-out the Fortuner this morning. The car was brought from their stock point to the showroom for my inspection this morning. Inspected the car and gave an okay for registration.
The car looks BIG in Pearl White.
The sticker on the front windshield. Despatch done on 27th Dec 2016. clap:
The ODO read 48 kms.
After inspection the car was taken to their local warehouse adjacent to Showroom.
- Full Payment done
- Registration will done on 3rd Jan (GO Number)
- Insurance Purchased on-line
- TGA worth 1.4 Lakhs Ordered
Hopefully delivery on 4th Jan 2017 :D

Congrats on your car!
Pearl white looks awesome.
Had told you that invoicing in 2016 and registration in Jan 2017 is possible.

Thank you Dean. I was contemplating at picking up a Silver first, but read on your Fiesta Thread about the new PPF from 3M that were suitable for whites. Thanks to you, I decided to go in for the Pearl White.

The accessories against which I have ticked have been ordered.

My bad. I just checked and it was actually deetjohn's Fiesta Thread. Nevertheless, thank you for your inputs on possibilities of a 2017 registration.
I was also made to sign a letter that gives me price- protection for a period of 15 days. According to the letter, I will have to register the car by 15 Jan 2017 or else the price prevailing at the time of delivery would be applicable.

What is the #13 item, front under run? I just couldn't understand that.
Big Congratulations. The biggest plus in 2016 manufactured Fortuner is, it is an imported unit.

Thank you Anurag. The front under run enhances the looks of the Fortuner.
I'm torn between picking up either the front under run or the front grill guard. The grill guard has the front under run incorporated in it. Costs the same.
The front grill guard is a new accessory and will be coming in tomorrow. I will take a call after seeing it in flesh.

Wow. I was of the opinion that the Fortuner had a high percentage of localisation from day one. I wasn't aware that the 2016 cars were CKD units. clap:
