You just answered the same, it's the most beautiful PUNTO till date! Everyone is tired of seeing the same design again and again.

Fiat has some of the best models overseas but for some reason they don't want to launch it here.

1. All we want is space
2. Car with Good power to weight ratio
3. Decent mileage
4. Service centre which wouldn't loot us..
5. And yeah Solid fiat build.

Nope! It's basically a facelifted Avventura without the rear mounted spare. So a typical 5 door crossover (or hatch, whatever pleases you!).

The petrol version would be hoot to drive with 140ps power and 210Nm of torque. From some of the reviews I have read, it's not a bad handler (well Fiat's normally aren't anyway).

Despite all of this, I wonder how much would the general public look beyond Punto's shell.

On the petrol 140hp variant, which is available only in top end trim.

Diesel variants use the older Avventura alloys.

Ah ok. Thanks for the clarification. Had the alloy shown at the launch in mind. Good they didn't go with that design

re: Fiat Urban-Cross to launch in September 2016. EDIT: Now launched @ Rs. 6.85 lakh

FCA India’s president and managing director, Mr Kevin Flynn:

Quote:
Urban Cross is well suited for the city, the practical nature of the (External) spare wheel in a city location isn’t necessarily the best answer. It works for some people, but not to the kind of numbers we thought. The attitude of the Urban Cross is different. The Avventura has not achieved the numbers we deserved – so we changed the front and rear, and that with the selection of engines we put in, it’s going to be a brilliant urban car.
Does this mean he expects big volumes from the Urban Cross? And, will the market react according to his expectations? Only time will tell.

re: Fiat Urban-Cross to launch in September 2016. EDIT: Now launched @ Rs. 6.85 lakh

Video review has been put up by Overdrive. Looks handsome, but everything else is as expected.

May be not everything, because the name is "FIAT Punto Avventura Urban Cross Abarth" for the petrol. Guess they are trying hard to adopt to Indian conditions, starting with the naming convention with full family tree.

Looks meaty from this angle, mainly due to his height I think.

Seriously CrAzY dRiVeR, at times it is so disturbing to see a company with such lineage finding it tough to compete with the modern/tougher players in a country like India

I for one, can't really understand why they would launch this when there is already a product in their portfolio which caters to this market.

On a lighter note, such a long name for a car reminds me of one of those funny dialogues from one of the epic comedy movies of Bollywood, Andaaz Apna Apna:

Baaki Log Kidar Hai ??

re: Fiat Urban-Cross to launch in September 2016. EDIT: Now launched @ Rs. 6.85 lakh

I wonder why they even bother with a new product - an iteration of an existing one rather. It's not as if it hits the sweet spot of the market like the Kwid did or redefines their product offering like Baleno did for Suzuki.

As a Linea owner, it has a great product - but for me the closest service center is outside city limits. That is really very annoying.

1. They had the 1.6 Diesel in their arsenal and even that was introduced by Suzuki.

2. They own the technology for the AMTs and yet none of their products come with AMT while the competitors acquire the technology/product from them.

They should just scrap the "Fiat" brand altogether and either sell under "Chrysler" or come up with a new brand like Toyota did with "Scion". An unknown brand is easier to build - since it starts from 0. Fiat is so down in the red that it has a mountain to climb even to get to 0.
