re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Spotted on a testing run in Chennai by Motorbeam spies.

Quote:
The test mule sports the usual 5-spoke alloy wheels equipped with disc brakes all-around, as seen the last time. The U321 has traditional MPV attributes to it, for instance, the large windows and doors.
Looking at the headlamps, fog lamps, LED DRLs, turn indicators on the ORVMs and the tail-lights, we could expect this to be a production ready car. Mahindra hasn’t yet confirmed a launch timeline for this vehicle.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Wow the dash layout looks clean and well put out. This seems to be a picture of lower variant, missing start/stop button, steering mounted controls and height adjustment leaver.

Is it me or the A-B-C pedals are too far from each other ?

I came across the Mahindra MPV test mule in Chennai Highway. The shape of the car looked similar to that of Innova.

Overall design seems to be very proportional, hope they don't go over-board with the front end design. This could be the car that can fill the void new Innova has created.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Barring the front fenders which are much taller & the hood which is also much higher, rest of the car proportionally looks very much like the older Innova. If the tail-lamp cluster is not XMas tree, it will always confuse the lay-men to think it is an Innova.

Remember how the Sonalika RHINO resembled the Toyota Qualis a lot (due to obvious reasons)? It feels exactly that way for this new MPV.

The high hood, raised fenders (both similar in idea to the EcoSport) and the really swept low windshield are the highlights of this car IMO & I like this design really.

The positioning of third row seat is so close to the rear door, could we miss out on some essential luggage space like in XUV ?

I caught the U321 on my dash-cam. This was on the New Avadi road in Chennai. Didn't think this road would feature in the test routes of under-test vehicles!

Attaching a snapshot from the video.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Spotted with production-ready headlamps by a Carwale reader in Chennai.

Quote:
The headlamp units are newly designed akin to the new Mahindra Imperio pick-up. The cladding fails to hide the Mahindra’s characteristic sabre-tooth grille. A projector unit is visible under the cladding along with a strip of LED daytime running lights on the front bumper. The large-tail lamps are akin to the brethren, XUV500 and get some LED inserts as well. The MPV was riding on five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Apollo tyres.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Spotted with production-ready tail-lamp sections by an IAB reader.

Quote:
The spy pictures reveal the tail lamp glow pattern partially. It appears that the MPV’s stop lamps gets conventional bulbs and not LED fixtures as reported previously. Although this could be a mid- or lower-level trim. LED tail lamps could be reserved for the top-spec trim(s) only.

Nice low & wide stance, no? I love it. Just hope that Mahindra doesn't screw up the actual design with its usual quirkiness.

Big thanks to Srinidhi Srinivas for sharing!

+1. If they sort out the driving dynamics to acceptable level and priced well, this will be a great competition to the Innova. Hope they will launch this as a completed product like a XUV 5OO. Not with the quirkness . Innova need a good solid competition in our market.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Unlike the upcoming Ertiga upgrade, this i feel will be the real competitor to the Innova Crysta as this can eat away the fleet operator share(along with TUV plus)

I would be keeping an eye on the AT trim of this MPV. looking at pics, i am sure this will be in my list.

Many thanks GTO & Srinidhi Srinivas for sharing these latest pics. Do you have any idea if this upcoming MPV will be a Forward Wheel Drive or a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)? Since this will cater to the people mover segment, ideally it should be a RWD.
