Re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Finally a clean design from Mahindra. Being a student of SRM University, I regularly get to see test mules of Marazzo as Mahindra World city is located nearby. I must say that even though its size is smaller than Xylo or Hexa, it has good road presence. Compared to Ertiga its quite larger in size and I dont think interior space would be an issue. I just hope that Mahindra prices it well.

Re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

The car looks good, but I am getting a feeling that this is a heavily worked-on Renault Lodgy platform. Mahindra has been known to buy licenses from Renault and relaunch the cars using their brand and engines. Even if that is the case, the car surely looks the part and should prove to be a winner for Mahindra

Re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Since only one more day left for the launch, this may be an idiotic question - but still no clarity about the Marazzo's drive-train (FWD or RWD) or the structure (monocoque or body-on-chassis)!

I think both Renault Lodgy and Renault Duster were based on Renault Logan's or as it's originally called Dacia Logan's platform. Marazzo is built on an entirely new platform, didn't you read they have even patented it.

I will try to go and check it out today and end the confusion on the whole 'on the rails' or 'monocoque' chassis thing.

No that is not the case the JV ended way back in 2010.

My 2 cents: I always loved Xylo whilst inside, but it was never a good looker! Having said that like most of us, I am up for the clean but edgy design of Marazzo. If the interiors are an natural upgrade on Xylo, this makes it a good case for itself in the market. I think the product will be placed below TUV 300+ and will battle head on with Ertiga. With Ertiga refresh launch around the corner, expect MPV battle 2.0 in which Mahindra will have a lot to prove!

As it turns out the dealership looks closed today, which is not normal. No cars were kept on display area, it was all cleared out and they were preparing a portion for the display of Marazzo I believe.

Re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

So, I did get to see it atlast, it looks amazing. Beautiful machine inside out, great job Mahindra

As speculated it is indeed a unique ladder frame chassis with FWD setup and transversal 1500cc engine.

So first vehicle after the Matador van to follow this layout I guess. I wonder if an AWD option is available.

It seems to be common across all Mahindra dealerships. Passed Anant Cars, Bannerghatta Rd, Bangalore and the showroom was empty. There was not a single car on display.

Chassis? As in monocoque chassis or separate-body-on-chassis as in Innova & Xylo? If the latter, then a real pity - neither one thing nor the other so to speak! The added weight of the structure (over the monocoque) without the benefit of the RWD sturdiness / durability. So M&M decided to throw in the towel & leave the segment leadership to the Innova/Crysta and focus on lesser rivals like Ertiga, Lodgy et al. Good business decision no doubt, but disappointing all the same.

Here is the live link to the launch for people who are interested in watching it live. (the launch event started at 11 am ). You will have to redirect to Youtube to watch it as playback on other websites has been blocked by Mahindra.

Re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

I wonder why people are feeling it will have inadequate power,
The TUV when launched had approx 80BHP, which was then "retuned" to 100BHP in an updated version some months later.

I think the same 1.5 mill is at works here, at 125 BHP,
it won't break a sweat while doing it's regular people mover tasks.

IMHO, it looks too much like innova, and lodgy from behind.
Interior looks good, Let's hope mahindra gets the pricing right.
