Even automatic climate control is going to be available only on the top end M8 variant which is even much worse than what VW does with the Polo and the Ameo Comfortline. And the biggest miss are the reverse parking sensors from the lower variants(could have been given from the M4). And then you have the missing DRLs in every variant but the top.

There are a few more points as well like projectors being available only from the M6(could have given it from M4 onwards), reverse camera available only on the M8(could have provided on M6 as well) and android auto/carplay available only on the top end variant(could have provided on M6 as well). Now the last three points are a matter of perspective, but you get the drift. They could have taken care of at least one or two of the above three points.

That being said, standard safety features are always welcome. Hope that they provide 6 airbags in the top-end variant at least.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

With due respect to all who like Marazzo appearance, I tend to differ. Unfortunately, in my opinion it doesn't look pretty from any angle. However, it looks better inside.

Whatever, it would be unfair for anyone to compare this with Innova Crysta. And at the same time comparing with Lodgy would also not justify for a kind of failure (even after being a capable MPV) it has been.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

I think that some of the features should have been standard or shifted to one segment below. Like USB sockets, Rear wiper or cruise control should have been present from M6 onwards.

Out of all the photos which are posted over here, what I dislike the most is absence of leather wrapped steering wheel. I didn't like the way it looked, would be aesthetically more pleasing if leather wrapped.

Quanto has already been replaced with Nuvosport in 2016 and guess what it has also been discontinued already this year.

I was also reminded of Lodgy, on seeing the D pillar and tail lights, for the first time.

The Mahindra Marazzo MPV. EDIT: Now launched-marazzo_lodgy_tail_lights.png

And I think it's time for Renault to bring curtains on Lodgy since the sales are already in double digits.

My bad. Totally confused with Nuvosport and Quantos and TUVs. Looks like there is one more on the cards S201.

The rest in my opinion are too many too confusing, may be they need to clean up Quanto, TUV-300 Plus and Xylo and have just Marazzo instead.
Quanto was replaced by Nuvosport which is now off the market.

I read in some news article stating that Xylo would still stay focusing on the taxi market which was previously fulfilled by Chevy Tavera.

I was told by one of the sales guys at a Mahindra Showroom (some time back) that TUV-300 and TUV-300 plus is essentially eating into people who come in looking at the Bolero.

This area would get more chaotic with Tivoli coming in.

Not bad, yet not so exciting feature list.

But I think when it comes to MPVs so far, looks haven't been the selling point - given that Ertiga and Innova + the Innova Crysta are selling pretty well or may be the market leaders - despite how they look. So in comparison to others in the market I would vote for Marazzo (not for its name, of course).

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

How are we comparing and complaining about the features when we have no idea about the pricing of each trim level? Just because some other car offers the same features in the base trim, does that mean Mahindra should also adopt the same strategy? The base trim of Marazzo maybe much more cheaper that the other car compared. Or the top end which has all the features maybe priced on par with the mid trim level of the competitor.

The Innova 2.4 GX costs 17.5 Lacs on-road (19.5 Lacs for the 2.8) and doesn't even come with radio!

We can do a feature comparison only when the pricing of each trim is revealed.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Overall it's a clean and appealing design with prominent front grille and facia. May be the rearward sloping roof will be a concern for the 3rd row passengers. Waiting to read the detailed review, esp engine performance and pricing vs features

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

It scores in the looks department. Its main competitors will be the BR-V, Ertiga and perhaps the Nexon, Breeza and Creta to some extent. The Lodgy and Xylo are almost on the way out, due to their ageing looks and paltry sales.

The few Xylos that sell are bought by government departments and the taxi trade mostly. And the Xylo launched in the first quarter of 2009, was meant to take on the Innova ! Lets only hope that the Marazzo does not meet the same fate as the Xylo.

Hopefully, the 1.5 L /130 bhp/ 300Nm torque diesel engine that powers it, proves to be a success to keep the Marazzo sales northwards. The engine has to soon become BS VI compliant. A petrol option should also be on the cards, seeing the paradigm shift of preferences towards petrol powered motor vehicles by buyers.

It should by 2020 (as for existing car models) be able to withstand the NCAP safety norms and score a good four to five stars during crash tests. Hence the airbags, monococque body shell and safety features should all withstand the mandatory test safeguards.

The Mahindra DNA should be able to keep up its image and the buyer will initially be positive, but it should live up to the expectations. The Xylo sold very well during its first one to two years (2000 - 3000 units per month), but the sales soon went below 1000 units per month, settling at below 500 units presently.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Honestly, car looks convincing. But, taking head-on with Innova?! Gives me a hiccup instantly. Reasons;

1) Toyota’s strong brand image
2) Reliability & Durability of Toyota
3) Innova has a very strong name for itself
4) Bigger engines and better build quality (leaving minor niggles aside with new Innova)
5) Ride quality has always been the favorite amongst us
6) Maintenance cost
7) Strong resale

Marazzo might score only in the price tag point against Innova and nothing else, until & unless it proves itself well in the market which should take sometime.

Like everyone else have pointed out, engine size is something that’s a bit concerning for a car of this size.

Mostly, the price tag would be competitive looking at the size of the engine.

Just my 2 cents into this thread. I will reserve my comments on other areas until our official review comes out.

Very true. Isnt 2.4 GX a manual shift version and the 2.8l motor comes only with automatic gear box ?
I remember seeing the review video in youtube, which mentions that the next variant VX comes at a higher permium, +2.5l rupees ex showroom.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

From the pictures, I notice there is no footstep and that could mean the ingress would be easier and footstep may not be required, at least not provided as a standard fitment. The old innova too, or the Ertiga does not need footstep. I could then assume that the car is more closer to Ertiga than the new Innova, with respect to its size and dimensions.

I am also wary of the 1.5L engine, especially if this vehicle can carry 7 or more adults (the 8 seater configuration) then climbing the ghats can make the car go breathless.

Also I hope this MPV is a rear wheel drive and not a front wheel drive like XUV.
The height of the vehicle being low overall & the fact that the spare wheel does not appear on the rear door, then, most probably it is then placed below the third row seat. Put those two inferences together, then I suspect if the vehicle can have space for a rear differential and if so then the car may be a front wheel drive.

I am not sure this can dent Hexa sales ? I presume a lot of Hexas sold are the XMAs and the XTAs ? The M&M possibly doesn't have a good autobox. Interiors will also not be in the league of the Hexa. But a XE/XM buyer could be tempted to consider the M&M given the promise of better fuel efficiency and possibly better specs at that price point

Hexa's sales is not great so far. The target here will be Ertiga and to some extent Innova in some variants.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

I think being a people mover, Mahindra had to play it safe when it came to the design. Looking back at a similar Mahindra vehicle, the Xylo the Marazzo looks simply fantastic. Even compared to the new Ertiga, the Marazzo I think looks like a contemporary design. Mahindra was harping plenty about the ride quality at the press-con, that is something i am looking forward to.
