re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Well, the design of the dash seems to be simple and straight-forward. The infotainment system looks like the one found in the KUV. I hope that it's not the case and the unit is equipped with Carplay and Android Auto. Other than the good looking Hyundaiesque steering, I find the overall design of the XUV to be more appealing. Pricing will be the key.

Does the MPV get an automatic transmission as an option?

They're themselves posting these on social media, giving away major details. Wondering what's stopping them from a formal unveiling then. However, the steering appears to be straight lift from Hyundai in terms of design.

I am replying to your observation as you are spot on- the US design team which is being so 'praised' for its design, originally designed this at 165mm GC and then when the first prototypes were rolled out the GC issues hit like a ton of bricks.
The feedback was to atleast meet the Innova GC numbers of 175/176 mm for that length of wheel base for Indian roads. The delay in the vehicles launch is being singularly 'blamed' on this change that was necessitated by the feedback.

Lets see what they have raised it to from 165.

It just seems that all the Indian vehicle makers are suffering from 'RE Launch Syndrome' that everyone wonders why they hurry to announce vehicles that are ages from completion or production- thwart off the competition? Maybe!

Few reasons:
-Lower distraction since the screen does not interfere when you drive.
-Touchscreen needs to be touched, more difficult when it is higher on the top as you have to lift your arm up. The ones that do have it higher usually have a knob or a track pad to scroll and are not touch only.

I beg to differ, if the navigation is on , then you are constantly taking your eyes off the road and also looking down. The reaction time will be slower than when the screen is at eye level. I guess Hyundai gets it right in most of their cars. It is always in line with the central AC vents.

Is it just me or does anyone else also think that the gearshift stalk is placed a bit too high? Reminds me of the Xylo, just hope it doesn't vibrate as much.

Yes indeed and thats because its mounted in the centre column like the previous gen I10. Pls check pics posted in previous page and you can see it clearly. This is quite a convenient set up.

Xylo just had a floor mounted gear stick that was a bit long.

Duster has it even lower. Almost at the knee level. When i test drove the duster i felt the screen was really difficult to use.

Now a days many brands are coming with the "Stick the Tablet" kind of design. Look really bad but the visibility is quite good. Function over form

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

New age marketing for yet-to-be launched cars -

1) First release the name of the vehicle
2) Then release a couple of shots of the interior
3) What next? Perhaps a drone shot from 20 meters height?

All this to generate a "buzz".

Now if Audi or Porsche releases the interior shot of next A8 or 911 with touchscreens (in-thing right now) everywhere, I would understand. But Mahindra releasing the interior shot of a people mover with a very traditional dash?

One good feature is that it seems to have is roll up sun blinds on the rear windows like the Hexa.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Middle row doesn't seem to be on sliding rails. So no way to adjust leg room for 3rd row I suppose.

Seat base height is difficult to judge from this top shot but given the height of the camouflage vehicle, i guess leg room + head room should be good.

On contrary I assume that middle row would be on rails and adjustable, as one of the interior spy shots showed there was literally no space between 2nd and 3rd row so maybe the middle row was actually pushed all the way back in that case.

It's been a really long time now since the name was officially announced and I would request the mods to update the thread title accordingly.
