It is launched only in XZA variant

TATA should have launched a diesel AMT too, that would widened the Tiago's appeal.

Yes, AMT comes with Sport Mode & has Creep Function just like on the Celerio. Apart from these, AMT version doesn't add/delete any feature compared to Manual.

Manual Transmission had ECO & City Modes, it remains to be seen whether the same has been carried over to the AMT version.

Bookings are open I guess, amount would most likely be ₹11000, like as on manual.

Yes, it was rumoured that XTA & XZA would be the two Trims on offer. But Tata now has launched in only one Trim 'XZA'. XTA may come a bit later (After Tigor's Launch).

I have reported Moderators to edit my previous post.

re: Tata Tiago AMT launched at Rs. 5.39 lakh

Right on target pricing in my opinion. It becomes an attractive alternative to all people looking at the Celerio AMT. I so wish I could do a conjoint analysis for a 1.2 Automatic. Would give some idea of the premium commanded by Maruti over Tata/Hyundai, keeping everything else constant. *Should connect with the marketing boffins in the auto industry.

re: Tata Tiago AMT launched at Rs. 5.39 lakh

The Maruti Celerio AMT Zxi(O) is priced at ₹5.4 lakhs ex-showroom Bengaluru. Tata should have undercut this price by at least 15-20 thousand rupees.

Tiago is no doubt an excellent car. It has an additional 200 CC over the Celerio's K series engine. However, the brand perception of Tata still has a long way to go.

At least the introductory price could have been a bit more attractive. Nevertheless, it is heartening to see so many choices in the automatic hatchback space.

Mumbai ex-showroom
Tiago is 5.73
Celerio is 5.44 Zxi AMT ABS

Does the Celerio get 2 airbags as well?

Yes the Celerio gets Dual Airbags in the ZXI(O) variant and Maruti is giving 20K cash discount on every single model of Celerio in most cities. Celerio will still remain VFM...

Any idea why is it so much more expensive at Mumbai?

Interiors of Celerio are no match to that of Tiago. Even the fit and finish is top notch. And not to forget, the wonderful HK infotainment system with 8 speakers!!

Not exactly VFM. Cheaper. & it's just that.

Tiago > Celerio XZA v/s ZXI AMT ABS
- Cooled glove box
- 2 DIN music system - with H&K 6 speaker 2 tweeter & GPS navigation inbuilt. (Celerio has 1 DIN with 4 speakers. No navigation)
- Significantly superior plastics all around. Better fit finish too. (touching the roof liner is something else)
- 1199 cc engine v/s 999 cc
- Adjustable head rests on the front 2 seats
- Far more comfortable and padded seats
- More cubby holes
- follow me home headlamps
- EBD
- 2 years 1,00,000 kms warranty (Celerio gets 2 years / 40,000)

Tiago > Celerio
Now really minor, insignificant bits (to some)
- bag hooks - front passenger well & boot
- better metal (not just heavier - but Tiago has a solid feel to it v/s the tinny doors of the Celerio)
- better paint quality and finish. Even the spare wheel well is painted in Tiago - it's left bare in Celerio & Grand i10
- few numbers higher in boot space 242 v/s 23x - might not really matter.

All other points can be subjective - example back seat comfort or peppy driving or lighter steering etc. etc.

Rest, I think they are matched on paper. Now is this worth paying 50 or 60k more... I think so! Especially if one factors in the extended warranty and 4 years Gold AMC that one can get with Tata. THAT makes it VFM. Just my opinion.
Waiting for someone at Concorde to call me up to say - Yes We are accepting the booking amount !

Yes, Tiago is a bit more expensive compared to Celerio.

If you compare the prices (Delhi & Mumbai) of both Celerio & Tiago, the difference is almost same.

Celerio ZXi AMT ABS
Delhi - 5.25 lakhs
Mumbai - 5.57 lakhs

Tiago XZA
Delhi - 5.39 lakhs
Mumbai - 5.73 lakhs

The difference between the 2 cities is 32k for Celerio & 34k for Mumbai.

Because the Tiago has a Bigger 1.2L Engine, has the Sport Mode, comes with better Infotainment system, and If you consider practical bits, it certainly has much better seats & bigger boot along with better Ground Clearance, all these for 14k additional over Celerio is well justified IMO.
