Nice to see TATA finally making the right moves! They first had to get a right product and since it's in place, time to go offensive. The only thing am unhappy is the long wait times and it's time TATA addresses that without a hitch.

It'd be really nice to launch Kite 5 with enough capacity so that the back orders are limited to a 1 month waiting. They really need to make it happen. Also hope they tune the AMTs in a way that complements the reputation that Tiago has gained.

I was eagerly waiting for the WagonR AMT to replace the 10+ yr old Alto in our family. Somehow after test driving the Tiago along with WagonR, Celerio etc I can't convince myself to get the WagonR or the Celerio over the Tiago. Forget convincing the family!!

The only + for WagonR and Celerio are the AMT options and Maruti's service network. With the option of a reliable FNG available to me, the service network is lesser of my worries.

Once the AMT Tiago is launched, I am planning to do these test drives again and take a final call. Hope they launch it soon. But going by the Hexa thread, it might come sometime after March'17. Fingers crossed.

A couple of Tiago AMT test mules were spotted on a testing run in Chinchwad, Pune, by an IAB reader.

Tata is reportedly planning to launch the Tiago AMT by mid-2017.

The unit is likely to be a 5-speed AMT that is rumoured to be exclusive to the 1.2L petrol option, while the 1.05 diesel will continue with the 5-speed manual. The 1.2L petrol produces 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque.

In case you’re wondering, the floor console trim of the Tiago test mule is missing, hence why the AMT shifter looks exposed. Like the Maruti Celerio AMT, it is a regular shifter with R, N, D modes and option to manually shift gears.

This is in line with what our local Tata showroom is saying - 6 months from now. I was interesting in looking at the Kite 5/Viago/Altigo too (the AMT variant actually) but it looks like that might take more time due to the focus on Hexa, fulfilling Tiago orders, and rolling out the AMT variant for Tiago. Don't know how the ongoing turmoil at Tata plays a part in all this, if at all.

According to IB Times India, Tata Tiago AMT India launch likely by March 2017.

It looks like the wait for the automated manual transmission (AMT) variant of the popular hatchback, Tiago, might end sooner than expected. The Tiago AMT, which made its online appearance through a set of spy shots recently, is expected to come to the market in early 2017.

Saw a white test mule near Tirupur on the Salem-Coimbatore highway with all the badges covered, even the Tata logo. I guess the AMT was under test. Was doing about 100 kmph.

Great move by Tata to introduce the tiago AMT. If this is launched, it is going to cause some serious problems for the celerio, wagonR and all other competitors of the Tiago.
Just a small query.
Is that AMT transmission the same as the one in the Zest?

Nice! So that confirms a top and base variant with AMT for sure. Will be amazing if Tata can add a 'hill-hold' to the feature list. Will compliment the AMT unit and can also be a USP.

OT: Looks like that base variant test car is carrying a knock going by the dents on the C pillar and tailgate.

This is one car which I am keenly following. It will make a great city runabout & an excellent first car. I need not say anything about its capabilities - the fact that it is Team BHP COTY says it all. Addition of AMT will make it a complete package. I hope TATA has got the supply chain of AMTs sorted.

Disappointed.
I have promised to buy this one.

Regret that they aren't extending it a little bit more and offering a charging port for the backseat.
Once again I see too many 'possible' points for 12 V chargers which I will have to shell out extra to be put in.
