Interestingly the website is NOT registered in the name of MSIL, may be some hardcore Maruti Splash fan or something.
Or a simple case of domain theft?

yes splash will come soon.it will be priced close to swift but more loaded than swift.you want space go for swift ,you want more features go for the splash.
those who have seen splash at the auto expo would recollect that its not a small car.its got good space inside.

Can you tell what more features will it have then the Swift? Will it have the same 1.3L DDIS engine?

I think that would boomerang back to Maruti!

Swift is not exactly generous on space. Asking people to buy Swift over splash for space can be foolish.

oh Sorry

Sorry for the website, but that was all I could rake up. In a similar fashion ( I think ) the website for sx4 was also not in the name of Maruti.

But if the website is wrong, then I am sorry. The only thing now is to wait and watch for the official announcement.

People,
tell me one thing.

Do you see the Splash as competitor for the Swift itself?

The swift has almost ruled its segment.
However, the reasons can be debated. [Brand Maruti/First 'good' car by maruti hence overrated/etc etc]
Is Maruti trying to slowdown Swift? [People planning for ZXI Swift will soon start going for Dezire]
Would the same happen with Splash, will the Splash eat into sales of the Swift? Whats the big idea here....

I think Maruti is experiencing great troubles to keep up ever rising Swift's demand in the market...

It'll be interesting to see how they position this. If they're pricing it around the swift's range, they'll have to pull an i10 - large improvement in comfort and interiors with some slight improvement in performance. If they improve the performance too much, it'll hit the Swift badly. Even if the Wagon R power train is retained, it would cannibalise the Swift as it is suppose to hae more space and would presumably have better interiors.

One workaround for them would be introducing the M-series engine in the Swift and strengthen its performance credentials. Any hopes of that happening?

Maruti has to work hard to launch good car with good interiors, so far except for price their product lineup is not attractive for people who need quality/luxury.

I wish they launch already cute looking Splash with good interiors. 2010 I am looking for 1 good small car and 1 good big car/SUV.

Regards,

Ravi.

I spoke to someone in MUL sometime back when Estilo was launched. MUL strategy is to offer the customer at least 2 choices in all engine sizes. It does not matter to them if one of their models (WagonR in that case) is cannabalized in the favour of the other (EStilo) as long as the customer stays with Maruti.

Similarly, with the love-it-or-hate-it styling of the Swift resulting in some customers avoiding the car, they are offering another car in the same segment to customers that otherwise might have gone to the i10

I can tell you that lot's of people in the Netherlands are eagerly
awaiting these cars, both from Opel & Suzuki. Although both cars
sold quite well here, lot's of people did not like the "box-like" design
of both the Wagon R & Opel Agila. I must admit, I did not like it
either.

So far I must say I find the Opel version of the Splash better looking,
but that's just my humble opinion.

Hopefully, both cars will be available with Automatic Transmission (only the Wagon R had it..), and, of course, a diesel engine!
