Kaptur for India is almost certain to be placed above Duster!

Aren't they all? Creta looks like an overgrown I20. First time I saw Ecosport, I felt it was just a bloated hatch. Brezza too is just a bigger hatch. Less said about BRV, the better. Not sure where to put Duster.

All of them are CUVs at best.

re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

Is this Kaptur different to the 'Captur' in the UK?

The Captur is really compact and is a blockbuster hit in the UK in the Small SUV/ Crossover segment. Duster is sold as a Dacia itself in the UK, so the Renault easily sits above the Duster on market positioning.

Here is Captur with EcoSport and Duster.

Captur worldwide is different from Kaptur.

Renault's Captur is based on the Clio platform while the 'Kaptur' is on the Duster platform.

Apparently its different. The one with K is for emerging markets (again!). Probably a cross with Duster's underpinnings and Captur's looks

The Kaptur and the Duster in a single frame.

Plenty of visible differences. The Kaptur looks to be the more premium, and the more rounded off contemporary product (all puns intended), with the wonderful forward-sloping C-Pillar, downward-sloping bonnet, sharply-raked headlamp sections, Baleno-ish front grille and the jacked-up stance.

I love that shade of blue. I hope it makes it to the Indian Kaptur. Also please dont try and make it into a 7 seater Renault. A Spacious 5 seater with a roomy boot will be best.

With the dual tone colouring and rounded off design, it's having an uncanny resemblance to Tata Nexon.

A couple of test mules of the India-bound Renault Kaptur were captured on video during their first-ever testing run in Brazil.

The Duster-based SUV will be launched in Brazil in the first half of 2017.

re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

According to report by MotorOctane, the Kaptur SUV codenamed as HHA has reached India and testing of the vehicle on the Indian terrain has begun.

The SUV will be positioned above Duster competing the Hyundai Creta and will be powered by the same tried and tested 1.5L Diesel Engine producing 110 BHP mated to a 6 Speed Manual and 6 Speed Automatic or AMT Transmission.
The report further suggests that the 83 BHP variants will get a bump in power as the motor is expected to get some minor updates. Renault is also expected to be offering it's new 1.2L Turbo Petrol engine mated to a dual clutch transmission.

The upcoming SUV will be loaded to the gills with features like Keyless entry with push start button, automatic climate control, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation and Bluetooth. The same will act as a screen for the reverse camera, Auto folding ORVMs etc.

re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

A Zauba search reveals that Renault has imported a single body section of the Kaptur (codenamed "HHA"), possibly for further studies in localisation of design and body panels.

With this step, we can well and truly say that Renault India's work on introducing the Kaptur SUV in the Indian market in the near future has teed off.

Not really. All it means is that they will be giving us old wine in a new bottle.

The platform is derived from the base of the Duster, recognized by its robustness. The result is an SUV bigger and more spacious than the European: measures 4.33 meters long (21 cm), 1.81 m wide (5 cm) and 1.61 m high, with a wheelbase of 2.67 m (7 cm extras). The mechanical Assembly should keep the engine 2.0 16V the Duster, but with the possibility to have the automatic transmission CVT instead of the current four-speed a/t.

re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

After the success of Duster and then KWID, Renault is looking to repeat it with Kaptur ( name could be changed for India), due in 2017.

The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs-0_468_700_http___cdni_autocarindia_com_extraimages_20160826063203_kaptur.jpg

Here are some facts and speculations,

1. It is not the European Captur though design cues are similar.
2. Loosely based on the Duster B- Zero platform, so could have control on cost.
3. Will sit above the Duster and is in directcompetition to Mahindra's XUV . Will also take on Hyundai's Creta and some variants spilling into
Hyundai's Tucson's territory.
4. Estimated price ~> 15 Lakhs (ex showroom)
5. Interiors more premium than any current Renault product in India.
6. Kaptur will possibly also get the same 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine as the Duster, but tuned differently
7. The Nissan Kicks will join the fray to complete the Nissan -Renault offering in this space.

re: The Renault Captur SUV. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 9.99 lakhs

I think this could be another success story for Renault in India - if they can price it right. It has the looks and the frills that will appeal to our market. Pricing is the key because I suspect Hyundai will pull out all stops to block the threat to Creta.
I do hope they keep it a 5 seater.
