Also, I did zoom and check out the picture. Do I spot a rear disc? I do understand that none of the competing cars have one and I dont expect Maruti to put it there. But am I seeing things?

Don't know why the 2nd image has been used. Its actually from the European model of the Swift, and has been picked from this review: http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-rev...s-2017-review/

That is NOT the Indian Swift.

Really ?? This is just Yucks ... Why Maruti, why?

This kind of copying from a flop car is just not acceptable. Just go conventional man, why you need something funky when its not at all needed? I will never buy this Swift for this only reason, however good car it may be, I am serious and not joking.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I saw this car in flesh in Geneva Auto Show last year. Once launched and if the prices are same or close to the current model, this will be a blockbuster for Maruti. The masses are going to love it.. may be this becomes the best selling car in Maruti stable no matter how it looks.

Thanks for the clarification, Leoshashi! That clears the air around the disc brake thing.

Though we were sure that Maruti wouldn't really think of treating us with such surprises, there was some ray of hope for that nanosecond thinking "what if" they actually thought about it and launch the new model up to this standard.

Cheers!

This is the Swift which I think is coming to India. Even though I'd be happy if I am proven wrong here (simply hate those flowery alloys on the Swift which was spotted in India).

Agree - not only from flop cars, but from all cars.

Door handle from Beat, tail lights from Datsun Go, hatch door design from Liva... I believe they tried to copy the new 2018 Ertiga tail light from BR-V.

Are they trying to prove that Maruti can sell anything, even if it has designs similar to the flop cars from other manufacturers?

I saw that post as well. When the new picture cropped up, the optimist in me didn't bother to look further.

The alloy design looks very similar to the one that earlier version of XUV had. Albeit in a size or two smaller.

And for some reason, I feel the sidewall height is helping the tires to fill the wheel well better in these pictures.

Thanks

Orange here and orange there (another car after alto K10, Celerio, CelerioX). And I am bit confused about their colour options. That grey, white and silvers are always there for all models. They have brought back the blue (I assume this is same as the first gen blue).
I hate bright colours, so Orange, Red and Blue are ruled out for me. What is left are the old three

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Any idea on what is the difference between the ZXI and ZXI+ variants, aside from the projector setup?

Love the fact that they have brought back the blue color, but I doubt if it will be the awesome Torque Blue of the previous gen Swift.

Hang on, the Swift hatch is a global car. I'm not sure how much of an influence, and to what extent, the designers at MSIL had on the design and styling of the hatch.

I'm quite certain they did not rip-off the Beat's "hidden door handle" design cue. In fact, I'd be more inclined to believe that that particular design element was borrowed from the Nissan Juke.

Also, the Datsun Go inspired tail-lights and Liva-esque tail-gate is more coincidental than anything else.

I am in no way justifying the design or the designers. Make no mistake! In fact, I think it looks uninspired.

That said, if the car comes with the Boosterjet engine and RS/Sport badges at some point, it would make for an interesting little car.

Midnight blue is the same shade which current WagonR gets.

Seriously, their color options leave a lot to be desired.

Also why am I not seeing the analog fuel and temperature gauge?? They had it in the international Swift.

Still No Cruise Control, even in higher variants? Why Maruti Why? Is this such a ground breaking feature for you to add?

Guess I can see one in the picture, assuming it's one from the Indian Swift.
