No Boosterjet, no Dualjet, no SHVS. At least, not at launch.

The India-spec Swift will continue to use the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine as the current car, though the diesel engine might be tuned to produce more power. The novelty that the 2017 Swift will offer will be automatic options with both the petrol and the diesel variant.

The dualjet motor of Japan will not make it to India but is a lot quieter. I drove the Boosterjet version as well, followed by the Baleno Boosterjet. Didn't like either. Noisy as hell, similar to a diesel. I hate diesels anyway, do we can put that down to bias.
Otherwise, it's a Swift and a real shame, we won't get the advanced gadgets in India, especially the radar-laser based AEB.

What are your thoughts on the driveability of the boosterjet? Is there any turbo lag?

Not at all. It's super zippy, especially on Japanese roads.

I don't see any reason for them to change it. The current swift is a hot-seller and it will continue to sell no matter what Maruti decides to give or doesn't. Probably the only thing they might change would be a more stable body shell considering there is not much time left for the crash testing norms to come into effect.

The Swift will be built in Japan for European markets. Suzuki builds the Vitara and S Cross C/SUV's in Hungary.

What Maruti is also currently tossing around is the option of an even sportier version of the new Swift. A more driver oriented version is on the cards for certain, but Maruti still isn't sure if it wants to do a Baleno-like RS or a full-fat 138hp 1.4 Boosterjet-powered Swift Sport.

The five-door only model will be available in the UK in June, and while there are no official details on pricing yet we expect it to start from around £9,000.

Inside there’s a 4.2-inch LCD display to display driving information, plus a seven-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. Suzuki says it can be used while wearing gloves, and features a 3D sat-nav as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

The petrol-only engine line-up includes a 110bhp BoosterJet 1.0-litre 3cyl turbo, and an 89bhp 1.2-litre engine. A mild hybrid system is available with the 1.0-litre engine too, which lowers emissions to 97g/km.

A four-wheel drive model will be available with the 1.2-litre petrol, and higher-grade models will get safety kit such as adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking and a brake-boosting system for emergencies.

Thankfully, Maruti has already started getting ready for the new Bharat safety norms. So it might have a crash worthy structure even if it 'FEELS' like a tin can.

Not a bad scenario if they can offer the turbojet for the swift as well.

Wow - its only in India probably that people consider weight reduction in a car to be a bad thing. So in your opinion Ambassdor is the safest car ?
