Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

There is no doubt that the HR-V is an excellent product but Honda has erred big time in bringing it late into the market.

Compared to some of the new launches it will also feel quite basic - though it is a well made automobile and has quality interiors.

I am quite sure that its on-road price BLR will match that of the Civic - so approx Rs 23-25 lakh OTR BLR and that makes it overpriced for sure.

But then, the much more basic BR-V is around 16L OTR in BLR without discounts !

As a family with two Honda's, we are more than happy with their quality, reliability, efficiency and low maintenance costs and have lusted after the HR-V for quite some time.

If the top end HR-V is priced at Rs 23L OTR BLR, Honda will have a customer in us for sure.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

Any idea about the launch date?
I am looking for an upgrade from my Honda Jazz in 2020 and the HrV is certainly a contender.

I am looking for a Creta-sized SUV with good quality and features. I am not interested in Harrier or Hector as they are too big for me and also I dont have trust on the respective brands.

For me, the real Creta competitors (urban SUV) are -
Kia SPI2i - this is the real deal and top of my list based on whatever I have seen and heard so far. Looks like an awesome package which will be tough to beat

Skoda kamiq/VW T-cross - these vehicles from Skoda and VW will definitely be strong contenders as the feature list and quality seems to be top-notch. I am not sure about the launch dates though.

Honda HRV- I really like Honda as a brand due to my experience with the Jazz. I agree Honda India did bring sub-par vehicles at higher prices but right now, they seem to be focussing on quality vehicles (though at a higher price). If the HRV is well loaded and high quality, I am fine paying a slight premium

Jeep Compass - Though this is probably a segment higher, this is still in contention due to the ride, handling and performance.

It looks like 2020 will be an exciting year for prospective buyer in the mid-size SUV segment.

HRV starts at 20k$ and Civic starts at 19k$ in USA.

So if that is the case I think HRV will be launched at Civic prices at 25 Lakhs or more, and will be dead on arrival unless they are planning a India specific variant (meaning cheaper version).

Guys, please hold your horses and lets be little more optimistic.
The Honda Jazz(Fit) starts at $16K in USA.

SO, there's hope
I think Honda will undercut the Civic signficantly

US Jazz has 1.5L engine and is better specced too. But agree with you, nothing to do but to wait and watch. Maybe Honda can pull rabbit out of the hat.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

Not sure what Honda would achieve by launching a 2015 car in 2019 / 2020? And that too, when the car the HR-V is based on (current Jazz) is very close to be being replaced, with spyshots of the next Jazz already on the internet?

I hope this is just component testing.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

I love the HR-V and hope Honda will not get greedy with their pricing.

The flop show of the new CR-V and Civic, should be a big enough sign for them!

That said, I feel the HR-V is more a Honda City ++ in terms of quality rather than Civic -

Pricing in Malaysia ranges from 109,00 MYR (Rs 18.13 lakh) to 125,000 MYR (Rs 20.8 lakh). So this maybe the similar pricing ex-showroom India?

If Honda plays the pricing card correctly, then the new 2020 City and the HR-V can bring in some very good and highly profitable volumes for the car maker.

Absolutely love the way this car looks, even 4 years after it was first launched.

I feel many people dissapointed by the Civic's rather garish styling will prefer the HR-V

The interiors appear slightly dated though, but a very comfortable place to be and the seats are comfy.

Trust me it is going to be more expensive that the segment. CR-V is said to reach India as a CKD import. With low local content it will be hard for Honda to price it competitively. Honda has become one of those confused car makers that is running haywire to protect market share in India. Honda withdrew Civic when it was achieving peak sales. When market demand for diesel SUVs was high, there was no diesel CR-V. Joining the suv-crossover party very late is this 2015 model HR-V.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

I guess with the excellent pricing of the MG Hector and hopefully the Kia Seltos, the HRV is dead before arrival. I don't understand why Honda wants to launch this car in India when it is nearing the end of it's lifecycle - it will be under-powered, over priced and thoroughly outdated in terms of features at the time of it's launch. The Japanese brands have always shown a lackluster attitude towards the Indian car market and customers are slowly but surely moving towards other brands. Toyota still has segement leaders in Fortunner and Innova but Honda does not stand out it any segment. Unfortunately, this has been the case for the last several years but I don't see any change in their attitude. I was a prospective buyer of the HRV but it makes absolutely no sense to buy an outdated and overpriced car when there are so many better options available.

Honda HR-V SUV Expected To Launch This Festive Season

Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V-hondahrv1021x574.jpg

Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V-2019hondahrvsportinterior.jpg

It is expected to be powered by the 1.5-litre i-VTEC seen in the Honda City. HR-V will inherit most of the features from Civic and CR-V. Expect the pricing to be between Rs 11-17 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

I've been reading rumours about the same. Diwali launch likely. But I'm skeptical. All initial reports pointed to 2020. Any confirmation on the same?

Knowing Honda well, pricing will be higher than even the hector, so it'll not do record shattering numbers.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to launch HR-V

Pricing seems a bit optimistic for an International model with real Honda quality, this might be slightly overpriced, but at this price point, Honda can get away with it

Things working for this car :
  • LOOKS!!!
  • Compact size, which was one of Creta's USP.
  • Quality
  • Good engine options
  • Honda's badge value
  • People might see it as City/Civic in SUV form(big plus)

For wishful thinking's sake, I'm now banking on Honda to offer the HR-V with an optional 1.5 iVtec CVT, hopefully by Diwali and south of 20L
I wake up to see this in the morning ...

While a lot of auto websites are talking about a last quarter arrival, no word on this from Honda as yet!
