...and a lot more proportionate:

Where the 2nd-gen was quirky, this 3rd-gen is clean & understated:

Sophisticated is the word that I'd use to describe the interiors. In India, we don't get an all-black interior option. Skoda have chosen the safe, beige-black theme:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb01.jpg

It's got simple lines and every thing looks like it has been designed using some geometrical instrument. No quirky shapes here:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb02.jpg

Easy to read instrument cluster with a coloured MID:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb03.jpg

Start-stop button located where you'd slot in your key:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb04.jpg

One touch up/down on all 4 windows. ORVMs are heated too:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb05.jpg

Laurin & Klement branded door scuff plate:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb06.jpg

Suspended-type A-pedal. We would've expected the organ-type at this price:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb07.jpg

12-way electrically adjustable front seats. The driver's seat gets a memory function too:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb08.jpg

The seats are perforated in the L&K variant. Reason: the front seats are ventilated:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb09.jpg

Notice the openable area of the sun roof. It isn't as much as it appears on the outside:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb10.jpg

The sunshade is a manual one!
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb11.jpg

6.5" touchscreen infotainment system + 12-speaker 610W Canton Sound System. Notice the mood lighting strip too. Colour options are - white, green and blue:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb12.jpg

Dual zone climate control for the front passengers. Second row gets their own adjustment too. The buttons on the extreme right and left are for the cooled front seats:
3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh-skodasuperb13.jpg

I'm not complaining but I don't like dummy buttons in a car for which I'd pay Rs. 29.xx lakh (ex-showroom):

Yes, you do get paddle shifts too, in addition to the tiptronic mode:

There's some place in front of the gear lever to park your smartphone:

Another storage bin to the right side of the steering wheel:

Height adjustable seat belts:

Another look at the clean dashboard lines. Air-vents have a chrome surround. The glovebox has a soft opening and closing action:

Illuminated & cooled glovebox. Notice the SD card slot here:

Skoda claims that under thigh support has improved and I have no reason to doubt that. The seats were very comfortable. The cushioning was on the firmer side:

Believe it or not, this is actually called the 'Boss Button' where the sethji can electrically move the front passenger seat ahead to free additional room:

re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

22.68 lacs for the base model would probably mean the top end end hitting around 26.5-27 lacs(Just a vague guess). That would probably translate to a figure of around 33-34 lacs OTR in bangalore. Guess it is a decent price for such a loaded car.

Skoda has got such nice cars, wish they had got such nice After sales too. The car seems to be a winner, let's see how market responds.

re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

Key question is is the new Superb Style variant equivalent to the Ambition variant and the fully loaded Style+ (for current Octavia) or the Elegance (for outgoing Superb)?

That will make the true difference in the value perception! I am assuming it tends towards the Elegance variants rather than the stripped-down (and unpopular) Ambitions.

QUESTION ANSWERED: Mix of the 2 - India-specific brochure added!

The lower end one misses out on the electric tailgate, canton audio sound system, cooled seats, color MID and ambient lighting. Not a huge difference to be honest.

re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

I think this is very good pricing!

If only they could do something about their brand image, they would have another winner on their hands much like the previous Superbs.

With this car, it kind of makes the lower models offered by the Big 3 Germans seem like daylight robbery. The power is nearly the same but with more space and more features. A lot of sensible people will tend to look towards the Superb I think and ignore the Big 3 altogether.

A detailed Team-Bhp should clarify a lot of things! Maybe I can replace my 6 year old Jetta with this.
Interesting times ahead!

Penetrative pricing, just like the Endeavour . Seeing well-priced new cars is such a breath of fresh air. Much cheaper than the Camry which is priced at 29.12 lakhs (petrol) and 32.23 lakhs (hybrid).

The new Superb will take away customers even from segments below & above it.

Sucks that Skoda is doing away with a manual in the diesel . A lot of us like our MTs, and it's also the more reliable choice (compared to the DSG).

re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

Seems the Style is not spec-ed too bad. Probably electric front passenger seats and driver fatigue control would be nice to have. Maybe 3-zone Climatronic.

The good part is (if the specs are correct), that the 1.8TSI MT has 320NM of torque compared to the 250NM of the 7DSG :-)

Nopes. petrol manual definitely resurrected! 350 Nm of torque without any DSG limiting :-)

The 7 speed DSG is definitely the same Octavia/Polo TSI restricted to 250Nm

Doubt it. Majority of the customer base will 'Ooh' and 'Aah' the Superb, test drive it, speak volumes about what a great car it is-And then go buy the Camry.

Same thing happened with the Octavia. It is probably a better car in every way compared to the Corolla. But the Corolla outsells it by a factor of 4 or 5.

All courtesy of the image and perception the phrase 'Skoda Sales and Service' invokes.

Re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

Went to Vinayaka post launch to book the 1.8 Tsi Manual, only to be told that Bangalore launch will be two days after. The display car was parked outside and it looked stunning. It should create a few ripples in the market: Btw: the waiting period for diesel motor is 3 months and one month for petrol manual is what I was informed.

Re: Scoop! Third-gen Skoda Superb spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 22.68 lakhs!

The range of exterior colors offered seems quite limited - Only grey, while, brown and black. I was expecting the Octavia blue at least to be offered.

The 1.8 TSI Manual sounds delicious. The pricing is great too. Heck, we are talking over 20 Lakhs for Polo GTI which has the same engine.

I have doubts whether the Polo GTI is indeed being offered with a 7 speed DSG or the 6 speed manual. Because so far we have seen that for all VAG cars with the 7 speed DSG, the torque is being limited to 250 Nm.
