How long is he planning to keep the car?

If it is for a longer time then the resale value won't be affected. Another downside of cancelling the current booking and getting the facelift model will be the loss of discounts that he is promised on the current generation car.

Boils down on your friends decision of how long he wants to keep the car plus if he is particular about looks.

He usually keeps his car for at least 6-7 years since I know him. For current booking he is getting Rs. 60,000 discount!

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

For me, the sweet 1.6l engine was the single thing that kept me pulling towards this car. When hyundai can retain Verna and Creta with 1.6 liter diesel engines, why is Maruti finding it so difficult? Why they still power their hatchbacks, seven seater UV,sedans,Crossover, SUVs all with the same 1.3l diesel?

Launch pricing was the main main disaster that ruined the 1.6L S-Cross else the sales figures would have either been equal or more than Creta. I am NOT saying this because I love Maruti but the S-Cross is genuinely a brilliant package.

Maruti pays Fiat royalty per engine so costs are higher. The 1.6L MJD engine + transmission is manufactured and imported into India from Italy. Again costs increase exponentially.

This is not the case with Hyundai. Hyundai uses their own engines. No borrowing etc like what Maruti does for both the 1.3L MJD and the 1.6L MJD from Fiat.

So it is easier for Hyundai to keep both the 1.4L and 1.6L CRDI running simultaneously.

Hyundai's 1.6 is its own engine whereas Suzuki uses the 1.6l Fiat engine ( Imported from Italy) in which sales figures does not justify the combined royalty and import duties paid/incurred.

Overdrive is reporting that the facelift will only launch with 1.3 L diesel engine & a petrol offering is also likely .

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Yesterday I had gone to MASS for some work on my Wagon R. There I met the owner of the dealership here who is also the owner of soon to be opening Nexa in my town. I asked him about the new S-Cross and he said that they would be launching it with their Nexa next month. He told me that there is no petrol in offering as of now, only 1.3 DDiS will be there. Another info that I have is the presence of some sort of hybrid system on the new ones. But not 100% sure. Production is on in full swing. Maruti is betting big on the new one.

I think Carma2017 is bang on, almost prophetic.

Disappointed. Really disappointed by the many more news bits coming cementing the lack of 1.6 further :(
I really hope Maruti keeps it alive, atleast on order and with a premium.

Even Motorbeam reports in a confident manner that 1.6 diesel mill not be offered with S-Cross facelift. GTO had said, if one should buy S-Cross then it should be the DDIS 1.6. With a styling update which IMO is as bad / ordinary as the first avatar, I feel Maruti is going to kill the USP of this product. I hope the petrol mill turns out to be a decent one.

I think with removal of 1.6L engine, an AGS can really boost sales of the (comparatively) dull 1.3L engine.

An automatic S-cross will be a perfect package.

But that is what is going, for the diesel it will be the DDiS200 only. Ciaz is being extensively tested with the 1.5 ( in-house diesel) which will later find its way in S Cross.

Potentially yes. Also, it is likely that the S-cross gets some SHVS variant that could boost sales as a result of some slightly higher power and also environment friendly image of the SHVS. But for a car north of 10 lakhs, less than 100 bhp is a bummer.

Looks like I was wrong on the petrol and the boosterjets. It is only a 1.3 after all.

The DDiS320 is not as good as the Hyundai 1.6. Hyundai in their Verna, has 260 Nm torque kicking in as low as 1250 rpm and is constant at 260 Nm upto 3750 rpm. This is great for driveability and city driving. Let's see what torque numbers the 1.5L Suzuki engine comes up with. The Hyundai 1.6 also has more refinement with lower noise

Looks like a new face to their dealership/True-Value or the new customization feature from the background given. Does not look like a new car to me.
