Few pics from the S-Cross facelift unveiling today from NEXA, Hosur Road, Bangalore showroom. Pleasantly surprised as they made me pull the cover, cut the cake and be part of the celebrations although I was invited for the inauguration!

Didn't take any close up shots of the interiors as it was already posted before. However, few pictures which refer to the changes in the front grill, head lamp, tail lamp and the alloy wheel design:

Now it is necessary to conduct a review on new scross as the car is new and has an additional SHVS technology boasting torque assist feature.Team bhp will be able to really assess the torque assist if there is one really!
It is already told that the car is slower than the one without SHVS!

The original 1.3 DDiS 200 was no fun to drive out of the factory. Sure, it was much better in the city drives over the 1.6 also, but was a poor performer on the highway. I really doubt this new face-lift has anything in terms of improved performance. It looks like it's going the usual Maruti route of giving more mileage at the expense of being fun to drive. With the 1.6 being phased out, there is really no car in the Maruti stable that is a driver's car.

No need, but can add a separate section under the current review with a possible comparison with the old version. All minor updates has to be treated only this way, IMO.

Man, if leave the engine discussion out, the new facelift surely has added a lot of character to the car. I don't remember Maruti coming up with such radical changes for a 'mid-life update' ever. Maybe it's different here as S-cross is primarily for European customers and not the third world customers. Such irony and discrimination, specially when their bread and butter comes from the third world :(

Of course, since they saw a prospective customer in you Sincere efforts to cut a cheque from your chequebook. On a serious note, I had bumped into Sudhakar once when I went for service and realised his humbleness at one shot. Hence its no surprise if you were the chief guest.

That colour looks superb and is a change from Marutis older shades. However it will have to be neatly detailed and maintained to keep the charm active in the longrun. Will check out the car in person sometime soon.

I don't know if I should be sticking my neck out since I have never driven one, but I was told by several folks among my acquaintance that the Swift was a decent enthusiast's car. However, be that as it may, I have a grouse against the face-lifted S-Cross - its hideous toothy grill. Was it necessary to make it a straight lift from one of the Landcruiser grills?

Wish I really could do that but you see, it will be 1.3 to 1.3.

Secondly, I am not sure myself what would I pick next - There is really a long way to go and hence I haven't even started to mention anywhere that I am keen to pick something sooner or later!

And trust me, I haven't driven the 1.6 as yet but have gone for a super long TD on the 1.3 that my colleague picked up last year. Knowing how settled the ride was, I am sure the 1.6 with that punchy powerhouse will be a delightful experience to drive!

So the drive on 1.6 will happen sooner as I have been time and again asked to take it but I resist saying I will rather take for at least 500 kms than test it on NICE road .

Indeed he is. Earlier invite was for the evening but he called asking if I can make it for the morning and since I was already at work and this was hardly 5 mins away, I just went and little did I know that I will be pulling the wraps!

That colour looks superb and is a change from Marutis older shades.

Not sure how far its true but I was told that Blue is the choice during unveiling and so the case with the TD cars. Seems like that is a protocol set forth by NEXA.

The New S-Cross was launched here yesterday. I got an opportunity to visit the 'Nexa' showroom today. I was more interested in taking a look at the Zeta. These are some snaps from my side.

View from driving seat is good, bonnet can be seen.

If you look closely, the plastic covers on Alpha has mention of ZDi+ with Iso for isofix mounts. It's ZDi in case of Zeta. No test drives were offered as car is not registered. Moreover, 1 Alpha, 2 Zetas and 1 Delta was there and as per RM, all were sold out. The Delta wheel caps were much better than the previous one. Forgot to click a snap of it.

I checked it out at Kalyani Motors on Sunday. I really wish they had an automatic of some kind (AMT/ CVT/ etc.). I liked the interiors and the finish, I had gone there after test driving the CVT Duster with ordinary interiors of course.

I feel that the proportions look bigger in the White shade, compared to other shades, under direct sunlight.

One can only dress up that 1.3 litre engine so much. I mean seriously 5 speed gear box coupled with copious amounts of turbo lag in a car which costs 12.5 lakh rupees on road is simply impossible to digest. Maruti seriously has to look at its engine portfolio because currently every product bar Alto, Wagon R, Celerio and Omni is powered by the same engine albeit in a 90hp tune in higher models.

I think Maruti would eventually ditch 1.3 MJD. Their in house 1.5 diesel engine would be coming soon.
