2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Spotted testing in India!

The blue shade Scross looks classy, but for the engine ! Really like the exterior update.

Has the car reached showrooms ? Anyone seen in person ?

I still cant understand why Maruti Suzuki cant give a 1.6 ltr petrol engine in the new S-Cross with a 5 speed or 6 Speed AT as a torque converter / CVT? Indians have now moved to automatics. The number of AT cars on road today are testimony to that fact. Frustrating indeed.

Though this post may seem out of context as far as this post is concerned, but the 1.6 ( DDIS 320) is going to be introduced in the Jeep Compass to bring make it more competitive.

Fans of 1.6 would eagerly be waiting for this, including me.

S-Cross launch delayed. Got to wonder why. Changes in prices due to FAME regulation? On the other hand, we would get reviews in today by magazines.
Launch re-scheduled for October 3rd.

As posted earlier, Maruti would be launching the S Cross with the 1.4 petrol engine that is doing duty in the Ciaz, but it would be coming only in the 1st quarter of 2018.

That said - both being Maruti Suzuki cars - I'd have my fingers crossed till GlobalNCAP or some similar agency is able to prove that the cars are not compromised compared to their international counterparts.

Really? I always thought the international Grand vitara and the Brezza had nothing in common. The Indian Brezza is based on the current swift's platform and not even the newer platform of the new Dzire nor the Baleno. Could be wrong, but that's what i recollect reading somewhere.

Yes, both Brezza and S cross are built on the same Global Suzuki C platform, on which the international Vitara is based. Even the old SX4 was based on older generation C platform.

At Approximately 5.00 minutes, Did they actually say Maruti has been leading the Increased Safety movement that we see in all manufacturers??

Not one Single Maruti Car Variant has Electronic Stability, Traction Control or Six Airbags !!

This is where TeamBHP steps in, calling a spade a spade. Almost all the auto portals and magazines have contradictory reports, but they paint a rosy picture overall.

As far as Maruti's safety program is concerned, we need to see it's cars being tested by Global NCAP atleast. Just keeping fingers crossed for the newer ones to be better. But Maruti needs to understand that there are people who'll buy a fully loaded version with 6 airbags, Traction control, ESP etc. And I guess manufacturing these on regular assembly lines would not cost much if integrated in all variants. In our country, things move once there is a stick applied. I'm waiting for government to make these things mandatory before getting in electric vehicles, doesn't matter if cost escalates.

I feel they are trying to do a Ciaz in the compact SUV segment. Less powerful and tax saving engines, more perceived features and quality, good mileage, bargain prices - and the Maruti brand power.

You nailed my thoughts here. I am eagerly waiting to see which Maruti Suzuki car in India comes with 6 air bags and other safety features offered by Suzuki in UK/Europe.

Here is a list of safety features offered on SX4 S-Cross in UK (https://cars.suzuki.co.uk/new-cars/new-sx4-s-cross/)

- Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating
- Driver, front passenger, side and curtain airbags
- ABS with Brake Assist Function
- ESP® (Electronic Stability Program)
- Emergency stop signal
- ISOFIX child seat fittings
- Side impact protection beams
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
- Hill hold control
- Adaptive cruise control
- Radar Brake Support

Absolutely CrAzY dRiVeR. Maruti is looking at numbers, but at around Rs.14.00 Lakhs, customers have a lot of options. Moreover, customers are ready to try out other brands and the new diesel engine of Nexon, which is supposed to be quite good although not as good as the DDIS 320. Add to this the forthcoming facelift of EcoSport and the petrol engines available with Nexon, EcoSport and WR-V. Moreover, Honda is planning to bring in the 1.5 I-VTEC in the WR-V. If this happens competition would further increase.

NCAP 5 star safety rating, side and curtain airbags, ABS and BA and Adaptive cruise control, at least, should have been included in the facelift in my opinion.

What also beats me is why have rear air-con vents not been included in the facelift

The Alpha variant with leather seats would get very hot if it is not parked in a covered parking or not parked in a shade.

End of Controversy :

Alpha gets LED Projectors with DRL and lower variants get Halogen Projectors.
