re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

If 1.6 goes out of the production, then I will loose the sole reason for recommending or even considering the S Cross for a purchase. This car never deserved the puny 1.3, but Maruti's bad engine + car combo sold more than the right one and now they plan to take it further.

Disappointed!
IMO, even if selling in low-numbers, Maruti should have continued the 1.6 as a "Halo" product.
What's with Maruti and under-powered engine, there are folks who care more about the engine than just mileage.

The MJD 1.6 is imported into India today, which adds Import Duty to the royalty cut, charged by Fiat.

Whereas, the Hyundai 1.6 is manufactured in India, with no additional royalties to be paid.

It won't. The S-Cross 1.3 is not exactly fast. It hits the ton in around 13.7 Secs (Source: ACI).
With the average performing AGS plonked in, it will drop a further second or two to around 15 sec mark.

Of course, there will be arguments that 0-100 timings are not a true reflector of a car's actual performance.
But, in my opinion, a car with a blistering 0-100 time, is rarely slow in the real world scenario(unless it has moon sized turbos) and vice versa.

These is a live launch happening on Twitter!
There is no buzz or news around the launch. Is it genuine news?

That's not regarding the S-Cross or any car for that matter

It is the NEW look given to non-Nexa showrooms of Maruti Suzuki.

Named as Maruti Suzuki Arena!

There is indeed some buzz. Here is a news link. Don't know what exactly will change in terms of customer satisfaction or it is just similar to Maruti special edition makeovers.

Are you sure about this?

I thought the range was 1500-3000 RPM. No Auto Major has bettered that in India yet.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Guys, received some confirmed news from a very trusted source.

-Training on S Cross will begin from the 1st week of September. All RMs have been asked not to go on leave in the above time frame. Kolkata will be the training venue for Eastern Zone.

-1.6L DDIS will be discontinued.

-A petrol engine is confirmed. I'll confirm its specs once the training begins.

-In house 1.5L diesel has also been tested on the S cross. Whether it will be launched immediately or later remains to be seen.

Regards,
Shashi

A petrol engine on S-Cross means the car getting cheaper by another lakh. If it launches then I expect it to start from 6.99 Lacs for the Sigma petrol model ex-showroom Delhi.

Will be a good bet for people with low running and in search of a premium crossover!

Throw me a bone. Find out if there's a petrol automatic in the offing please, if you can.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Based on the autocar India information (link provided below), if we try to connect the dots....may be Maruti's decision to discontinue 1.6 L for S-cross makes sense.

http://www.autocarindia.com/car-news...nd-suvs-405820

Based on the new GST Cess increase, It would definitely increase the price if they go with 1.6 L importing from Fiat...

Are you sure about this? I'm asking because what I know of is that all petrol variants being produced have a SX4 S-Cross badge on them. So that means they're for export only.

A Petrol automatic S-Cross as a top of the line offering would be just amazing , I hope maruti doesn't plonk the 1.4l from the Ciaz in this car . That engine lacks any soul & even with the CVT is a pain to drive in city traffic .

I really wonder how many would go for it considering 1.3 engine with increased price tag of approx 50k for cosmetic upgrade

Only if they load it with so called 'features'.

I feel Maruti is only looking at numbers. In their meaning, the word "Premium" means only "those cars which are sold through Nexa" and not about premium quality or something like that.

Otherwise, they should not have bothered about low selling 1.6 model of S-Cross.

Just today, I saw Kizashi. Such a wonderfully designed car, they could have plonked this 1.6 Diesel engine to launch another car under Nexa brand keeping a price band of 16.0 to 20 lakhs.

S-Cross is a wonderful product and and the face lift image shows it has an aggressive front end character. Only required is 1.6 Diesel and Suzuki's 1.4 turbo petrol. Of course, it will not sell in numbers, but, it will help cementing Nexa's premium brand image without spending more own advertisements.
