I would still keep my fingers crossed for the retrofitting aspect of the new front design. The new bumper looks slick and the new projector headlamps give the front the much more masculine look. I wouldn't go breaking the bank retrofitting the grilles (I hate chrome) or headlamps if they are very expensive!

Going by the trend with launches/ facelifts first in China, S Cross facelift will go on sale in China from July, subsequently in India by October.

True that. Nexa RMs are openly confirming that the S-cross facelift is from October 1st.

On the petrol, the 1.0 boosterjet and 1.4 boosterjet are making it into the S-cross while the diesel trims are being retained. The JK Tyres are also making way for Bridgestone

I am not too sure about the 1.4 Boosterjet, though I'd love to see that under the hood of S Cross in India.

Are you sure about the 1.4L boosterjet??

Shashi

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

The nexa RM in BLR told me that the official version is to say they do not know about the engines. However, unofficially they are confirming 1.0 and 1.4 Boosterjet versions.
They also unofficially confirmed the 1.6 diesel in Ciaz when it moved to Nexa and therefore, one cannot be 100% sure.

Usually RM's are the last to know about the power-trains in upcoming launches and do know of them only during their scheduled training.

Anyways it is a question mark on the 1,4l boosterjet, since the speculated Vitara is the one which will get this engine . Hope your RM is not confused between the two.

Don't you guys think 1.0 BoosterJet is going to be under powered for S Cross , I am looking at the UK brochure and it says a gross weight 1730 Kg and power is around 111Ps that makes around 65 bhp per tonne .

Never seen as under powered in reviews, here is one user review.

Quote:
The 1.0l boosterjet engine is more powerful than our previous 1.6 petrol mazda 3. It pulls well and even with three adults in the car goes up a nearby testing steep incline on a motorway with no sense of labouring or hesitation. The steering is quite light and takes a little getting used too. Brakes are responsive and progressive.

Scross 1.0 Booster jet
109 BHP
170 Nm

Kerb Weight (MT) - 1160 kg (Including all equipments + fuel)
Gross Weight - 1730 kg (Including passengers + boot load)

BHP/ton is a performance parameter and it is evaluated based on Kerb weight.

Scross 1.0 BHP/ Ton : 93.96 BHP/ ton.

Assuming kerb weight will be around 1200 kgs, I don't think the PTWR will be poor. If we get the 101 BHP state of tune, the PTWR will be 84 BHP/tonne.

No way that the 1.0 boosterjet can match the 1.6 diesel, but it should be faster than the 1.3 diesel.

It can, in one way that is 0 to 100 kph.
It is faster by a second.

But in terms of feel, the 1.6 will blow it way.

  • Got the 1st picture above as forward. This is the facelift version which has custom alloys & tyres. Looks hot isnt't it? For few of my friends who are Scross admirers and prospective buyers, this is their current wallpaper set up.
  • The 2nd picture below is my humble tusker / current Indian version with stock alloys and stock size tyres (P3STs)
  • Credits to respective gentlemen for the forward and to respective photographers

Drooling here. That looks hot.

One teeny tiny issue is the rather small disc brakes seen inside these alloys. But looks underwhelming. No offense to their braking capability.

As mentioned in the post, they are custom alloys and tyres. Most likely 18' inch wheels so no doubt the discs may look smaller in the picture. Braking capabilities on the current version are good for sure but don't compare them to Abarth Punto range of braking which I'm told are in a different league for a good reason.

All your car now needs are better looking alloy wheels and a rear spoiler (body colour matching).

I still love the current model over the facelift.
