Big news is, there will be a CVT variant too! ( 6AT)

Boosterjet 1.0l powers/likely to power the following. Seem to be in a variant in future Maruti Suzuki's offerings.

1. Baleno RS
2. Vitara Brezza
3. S Cross
4. 2018 Swift RS

I sincerely hope that they bring in the fully loaded version with 6 airbags if not All-Grip. We have high hopes with this car and are heavily banking on Maruti to provide the proper version unlike the current one with just 2 airbags. If it does, we'll have one in our garage soon.

Looks like the new S-cross facelift launch is imminent.
This is how my conversation with a Nexa RM went this morning.

First part involved 70K off the S-cross that is posted in the thread
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...eview-503.html

Second part went like this:
Me: I am not interested in buying right now. Would rather wait 4-5 months and pick the latest version. Does it have a gasoline option?
Nexa RM: Yes, there will be a petrol option along-with diesel
Me: Is it the boosterjet?
Nexa RM: We don't have details on the engines as of now

So looks like the current S-cross gets 70K off and the new S-cross launch is round the corner. Else, I don't believe they would give 70K off 4-5 months in advance

So for those that are buying now, there could be 70K off plus more sweeties in the coming months. I also discussed with him about gasoline engines that I will post on a separate thread

Finally some good news on facelift S-Cross being offered with Automatic , Hope this comes with all bells and whistles in top end , Unlike other manufactures who have started the trend of having Automatic in lower trims only . With the world now treating Diesel as a poisonous fuel , I am so apprehensive about my next vehicle being diesel .

S-cross automatic in top trim would definitely cross 10 lakhs ex-showroom so they may not offer it. It wont sell much.

Carma2017: Gasoline engines are now very likely and almost confirmed for S-cross in India in facelift launch in September. The Nexa RMs are openly saying that S-cross will have both petrol and diesel versions.

There are no gasoline engines planned for India in S-CROSS.

1.6 diesel is likely to be discontinued. No 2.0 diesel engine likely. 1.0 Boosterjet confirmed. 1.4 Boosterjet likely to be the top trim instead of 1.6 DDiS

Yes, both 1.0 Boosterjet and 1.4 Boosterjet come with CVT in UK.

I guess that 1.0 Boosterjet on S-Cross comes with 6 Speed Torque Convertor there in UK.

Yes, CVT will be 1 lakh more expensive than manual compared to 40K for manual. The 1.0 Boosterjet with CVT could kiss 10 Lakhs while it may not be offered with 1.4 Boosterjet

I agree. The blacked out grill will look very yummy on certain body colours. Chrome looks a bit overdone and gaudy - however - some of us in the forum said the same of the XUV as well, and that vehicle has been a hit!

As far as I can see, they have faithfully copied the original, including the chrome. This might be a good or bad thing depending on the individual, but I believe the market will love it.

If it's too much, just mask two strips in the middle, and there you go - a Beemer on a budget! :D

I had voted for "Current design is better" based on my initial impression of the facelift. However the looks have sort of grown up on me. So my opinion has changed and I like the facelift more now!

Looks like the 1.4 Boosterjet can trump the 1.6 Multijet in the S-cross facelift.

In the author's own words on the Vitara S review:
It produces a healthy 138bhp with 220Nms of torque plus there’s virtually no turbo lag, and it loves to rev, and as it’s a petrol engine, it’s much quieter than a diesel and is almost silent on idle so it’s a win, win.

Agree with you on this completely. Infact i'm desperately waiting for this guy to launch. And the first thing we'll try to do it achieve that look of a Bimmer.
How do we achieve rounded margins on the inside. Suggestions pls. :p

Converted some mpg to ARAI km/liter so that we can have an idea of what the ARAI kpl could look for the S-cross with the new engines

Looks like
1.0 Boosterjet will give ARAI 17.6 with S-cross (owing to higher weight vs. Baleno)
1.0 Boosterjet auto will give ARAI 17
1.6 DDiS will give ARAI 22.1
1.4 Boosterjet will give ARAI 16.3

So the boosterjets might not be winners on kpl front in the new S-cross

The boosterjet will obviously have worse mileage than the DDiS, because of a simple fact...Its a PETROL!!
and especially Turbo petrols are terribly sensitive to driving style, the ARAI mileage can only be had with a very light foot, whereas it seems to be much easier with Diesels. And also keep in mind the figures of the Boosterjet 1.0 in the indian tune(Just 100 hp and 150 Nm), the torque is lesser significantly than even the 1.3 DDiS, so the performance would be leisurely at best. So unless they can somehow undercut the diesel by at least 70-80K, there is no point in wishing for the Boosterjet 1.0.

The petrol variant for the S Cross and Vitara Brezza will have the 1.0L boosterjet engine!

Do you also happen to have any idea of the pricing relative to the corresponding Diesel (DDiS 200) models?
