I am waiting for the GTI to hit the used market. With not much enthusiasts around and the kind of average that this car will give, I am sure it's resale value will be peanuts which will give lateral upgraders like us a chance to have this car for a lot cheaper.

Couldn't possibly agree more with you vb-san.

In fact, in one of my earlier posts, I had even mentioned that VW should have taken a chance and gone completely insane/mental and introduced this:

VW SCIROCCO

If the idea was to have a 2 door premium, performance, thorough bred hatch, why not offer the true blue blood !!

I have seen the green Scirocco in flesh and it looks fabulous.

VW should have brought the Scirocco in place of the GTI.

If you are anyway going to charge 2 million bucks for it, let it have something to show for it!

T-BHP rules and controls will not allow it, but my response would otherwise be one three-letter word with a dozen smilies. just...

YES!

Wonder why they skimped on the headlights - those are halogen. Down the line, the 12-13L Vento are going to be equipped with the all-LED headlights!
They would have to stamp out unique sheetmetal and for the expected low volumes, it doesnt make sense.

Better to pick from a plant thats already making it and bring here. It kinda makes sense why they got the 3dr hatch with 1.8 engine. Go for broke philosophy

Re: Volkswagen Polo GTI @ Auto Expo 2016

The 3-door Polo GTI was spotted testing somewhere on the outskirts of Mumbai with a couple of (benchmark?) cars in tow - a Skoda Superb and a regular Polo TDI.

Expected to be launched later this year, the Polo GTI will come with a 1.8L TSI engine which produces 190BHP of power and 250Nm of torque.

The soon-to-be-launched hot hatch from the German carmaker was recently spotted testing in the outskirts of Mumbai.
The car was a part of a small fleet that also included other cars from Volkswagen Group, its younger sibling Polo TDI and the new Skoda Superb.
The car was showcased for the first time in India earlier this year at the 2016 Auto Expo and is expected to be launched later this year.

Close on the heels of the 3-door Polo GTI being spotted near Mumbai, come these couple of spyshots of the 5-door Polo GTI spied in Pune.

Sporting "TC" plates, the 5-door version looks practically the same as the 3-door version, except for the extra 2 rear doors and the blackened front part of the roof.

Wow!!! That's a wonderful scoop and a good news. I just wish it is not CBU.

The front portion looks like it is a sunroof or Glass 9see that there are two separation lines one where the red ends and the black roof starts and another a couple of inches later suggesting tat it is glass.

Wish they come up soon with this. This Deepavali promises to be good!

Re: Volkswagen Polo GTI @ Auto Expo 2016

Volkswagen will be launching both the 3 door and 5 door versions?
What would be the price difference between the two and who will buy the 3 door version if a 5 door version is available! The latter is obviously much more practical overall or is it a last minute decision by Volkswagen India to launch the 5 door version instead of 3 as it's quite possible because VW did showcase the car at Auto Expo and some dealerships as well as shows to take consumer feedback and study the market.

Re: Volkswagen Polo GTI @ Auto Expo 2016

I think the red 4 door car has been spotted earlier as well.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post3762266

I don't think there is going to be enough volumes to launch both the two door and four door versions. Given its positioning, I think the two door version makes more sense.

Agreed, but people don't buy this sort of car for practicality!

For a car of this size, the two doors look sleeker and sportier. Maybe that would appeal strongly to a Polo-GTI buyer?

Choice is a fine thing, of course. Thirty years ago, I would have opted for the three-door. Now, I would probably admire the aesthetics of the three-door and buy the five-door. (All in my dreams, of course)
