FCA literally brought the Grand Cherokee SRT and Wrangler to India. Correct me if I'm wrong but are they not both niche/lifestyle vehicles that FCA knows will deliver small numbers? They seem perfectly content with the small numbers these vehicles will deliver and still launched them for enthusiasts.

It seems every time a manufacturer delivers a niche/lifestyle car at a high price in limited numbers, people on the forum complain that these vehicles have no mass appeal, will sell poorly, are overpriced and will fail spectacularly. (take a look at every superbike/sports car/luxury niche vehicle launch thread)

Then at the same time when a manufacturer launches a mass market car, made to deliver numbers and appeal to a wide spectrum of people, others complain that manufacturers don't launch anything to cater to enthusiasts.

Suneel. Yes they brought Wrangler and Grand Cherokee etc. But these were Key Image Drivers for FCA. Not many people would ever have bought these vehicles simply on account of the prices.
But the Renegade is a mass market product. Can easily pitch itself against things like the Brezza and Creta and Venue and all. So why do they consider Renegade unworthy of India or India unworthy of the Renegade?

2 cents: Yes I agree that manufacturer lethargy affects FCA and many others besides, including Toyota and Maruti and more or less everyone else too.

And the Jeep Renegade has been discontinued in the US and Canada, while it continues to remain on sale in the rest of the world.

What separates the Renegade and the Compass is a 1000 dollars here in the USA. So there is no way the Renegade, with a 25L price tag, be able to compete with the Creta, forget the Brezza and the Venue .

Jeep Renegade, why not in India?

I have been a big fan of the Jeep Renegade. It is a very popular subcompact crossover SUV in Europe. I have seen many in the UK as well. I think it slots slightly below the Jeep Compass. I definetely prefer the Renegade to the Compass. Just see its road presence!
With a variety of engine options from 1 - 2.4 L and dimensions of L4230 x W1810 x H1690 mm, this car would have shot the living daylights out of the Nexons, Brezzas, Cretas, Seltos, and the Grand Vitara currently dominating the Indian market.
I wonder why Fiat never brought this to India. Why these companies shy away from bringing in cars that could have been overnight winners, if priced right, has always amazed me. They are struggling with (IMO) a boring looking over-priced compass!
I suspect even the mighty Thar would have found it difficult to compete with this car (Renegade).

Anyways would like views on this
