Santosh's comment on the new B47 engine is critical. A new engine, is a significant upgrade in my opinion. Haven't driven the LCI 3, but the older F30 wasn't exciting enough. I didn't particular like the handling too much. Hoping the handling, suspension upgrades make the wait worth it.

Thank you. In that case I'll wait few days to see it in flesh. The local dealer told me it should be here in two weeks. What about discounts? Do you think they would offer discounts immediately?

Thats sounds a bit ridiculous, announcing the car and taking a long time to get car into dealers

Paid, to be delivered in 3-4 days.

Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Beige Interiors.

Almost giddy with excitement.

A detailed F30 LCI review in about 10 days.

(update: 1% service charge on cars above 10 Lakhs - Booohooooo) Recommend, individuals on the fence on a car to close their purchase within a couple of hours.

Cheers,

According to this review it appears that the ZF gearbox in the 3 has also been replaced by the Aisin 8 speed. Is this true?

I thought the Aisin 8 speeder was only meant for FWD vehicles. The new X1 has it.

Yeah that's what I realised.

Total increase for most cars worth being discussed on this forum (>4Metres, Engine capacity > 1500cc) is 5%.

A question on the 'midnight' issue? Historical budgetary announcements are applicable from that moment itself. Ie: 5 minutes, after the announcement? Any thoughts on that?

That's just wrong reporting. The 3 is such an iconic car for BMW. No way is BMW going to ditch the ZF for the Aisin on the 3.

re: Updated BMW 3-Series launched (F30 LCI); gets M Sport variant

Guys!!! Finally took delivery of a spanking new 3 series. LCI. Woot! Woot! Woot!

Was assured it would be the first new 3 series in Eastern india, but I delayed the payment, so it's the 2nd. I'm your regular entrepreneur, and a simple guy, had to really slog to be able to afford this, so it means a lot. Just managed a short drive from the OSL Kolkata showroom to the airport, from where I had to take the flight out, so just very initial impressions.

- the power and the drivability is significantly better than the pre-facelift 3 series. The previous version didn't give me the "fuzz" so I couldn't make a move for the last 2 years. Didn't ever want an Audi, MB

- seat comfort is exceptionally good. However, when you finally own a car it feels smaller than it did in the showroom. The 3 series is a compact car, make no bones about it.

- controls very well laid out. I've always found the BMW interiors to be drab. However when you own one, it isn't as bad. Especially with the ambient lighting.

- thankfully no touchscreens. Hate that. Like my hands to be on the driving wheel and nowhere else.

- steering wheel controls need to be programmed.

- the new LED headlights and the taillights look sick!

I'm also giddy with excitement. However, upon landing in mumbai I discovered that bmw has advertised and physically showcased the new X1. It looks awesome. A little bit of buyer remorse on seeing it. Looks better than the 3, and to think I could have a saved a bundle had I waited for it. However, any petrolhead (benzene head) always wants a 3 series. The heart wants, what it wants. Didn't get a good deal, but this car will keep me happy for years. Hope so. ;-)

Detailed review in a week, when I am back in town, and get some time behind the wheel.

Have bought the imperial blue 320d prestige variant home yesterday ! Squeezed out 400,000 lac + 50 k corporate discount from them on the new model (not the 2015 one). insurance 90 k. Exchange bonus 75 k. Sold off my 2012 SX elantra(D) shaving another 700,000 off. Uttar Pradesh Registration 2 lac less than Delhi's (3,66,500 Rs).

In effect OTR 28,56500 Rs.

Further 20 % NCB i can claim later on the 90 k insurance.
But have to add a 1,06,000 rs BSI pack ( 3yr /40 k ). Can take upto te first service .

Took the stock RFTs.

I'm also in depression after hearing about the offer you could squeeze out. I could eke out only 2.5 lakh discount, all inclusive. Got conned did I? Did you take BMW assure for 1 year? Any thoughts on the BSI package?

Kolkatta dealership is with a large corporate , they normally don't negotiate much as compared to North. Besides you will pay less tax due to 5 year rule in WB and who knows how long will you keep the vehicle. I bought mine 320 sometime in 2008 at Nil Discounts, you should enjoy the car

re: Updated BMW 3-Series launched (F30 LCI); gets M Sport variant

Hi Nuclio,

Thanks for the appreciation !! Discounts are just a matter of timing. Same car at this year end would fetch way better discounts. By the way have a close contact with the Kolkata dealer and was promised a car from his side with further discount of full DEALER MARGIN ! But I did not go for that because as it is I had squeezed out quite a lot from these guys. And then also I wanted the local showrooms car so that they dont give me harsh times during service

If you have the Prestige then there is NO OPTION of interiors (i really wanted the saddle brown color of the LL). I will definitely take the 3yr/40k BSI pack.. can take it till just before the first service indicator comes on.

re: Updated BMW 3-Series launched (F30 LCI); gets M Sport variant

Guys went to the BMW Showroom in Chennai expecting BIG Discounts on the 3, but to my surprise it was the otherway around. I had inquired about the Luxury line version and the salesman informed me that it would be around 52 Lakhs on road, was shocked but still lingered on, then after a bit of haggling he offers me a discount of 60K, thats it, nothing more.

I also Inquired about the 2015 models, but he had informed that all were sold out.

If anyone knows of any better deals do let me know.

Have now decided to wait for the new fortuner.
