Baleno specifications for the International markets.

Specifications of Baleno RS for India with the boosterjet engine will have minor differences in Ground clearance, Fuel economy, tuned for Indian driving conditions!

Suzuki global site mentions all details except weight of the car. Weight of all other cars mentioned in website except baleno.

Was thinking why cant Suzuki introduce the 1.2 lt petrol engine with a turbo? Wouldn't that help in keeping it within the excise benefits and at the same time, providing better bottom end performance that the 1 Lt engine? It may be a better option for the Baleno and the Brezza petrol option in the future. Or is it that the engine bay size will not be able to accommodate the larger engine with turbo?

It's all about keeping the prices in check buddy. 1 litre booster jet is turbo charged k10 engine. Maruti can price it competitively now. When I asked the engineers who were testing baleno boosterjet about pricing, they said no idea and that's left to marketing team. He said "might" be priced between 1.2 petrol and 1.3 diesel.

These import prices of engine suggest a competitive pricing for boosterjet baleno.

I can see 2 options of engine here for manual and automatic. 1 litre boosterjet automatic for Brezza?

I guess it should be priced above the 1.2 petrol and below the 1.3 diesel. The only problem being spares might turn of to be outrageously expensive as the engine is imported, but one can expect better quality and longer life for the parts. I hope they concentrate on the low end torque. That's where the K10 motor lacks.

Baleno booster jet is basically the same k10 engine which is on sale in India. Block is of same size but it gets direct injection and turbocharger. I dont think spares would be very expensive considering it is imported at 90,000 rs (whole 1.6 ddis for a cross is around 3 lakhs). Boosterjet engine price would be around 2 lakhs after all the duties, tax etc which is little more than localised K12 engine.
Cheers!

re: The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.69 lakh

Looking at the press release for Japan, turns out the booster jet engine is actually drinks significantly more fuel compared to the naturally aspirated 1.2. The official figures for 1.0 is 20.xx while 1.2 is rated at 26.xx!

re: The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.69 lakh

Maruti Suzuki is speculated to bring the Baleno RS variant with the 6 Speed AT in addition to the 5 Speed MT. Will be targeting the Polo GT TSI segment too.

Though the Polo GT TSI is with the cutting edge technology, Maruti will target the shift in buyers considering the affordable brand value that it is perceived with.

The Maruti Baleno RS will be sold with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine. This engine will come mated with two options: one is a five-speed manual and other a six-speed automatic. Maruti will be manufacturing the six-speed automatic transmission in India.

I don't think Maruti would launch boosterjet engine with automatic in India. When maruti was testing boosterjet baleno in cochin, they were benchmarking it against polo GT TSI. Baleno on test was a manual variant. When I asked the engineer why are you testing it along with a car with automatic transmission, his answer was both cars have direct fuel injection and nothing to do with gearbox. He had confirmed about the launch of boosterjet baleno with manual gearbox and cochin was chosen for testing in coastal climate.
