Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Powering the Mahindra KUV100 is a new range of "Falcon" aluminium-block engines, which includes 1.2-liter three cylinder petrol (mFalcon G80) and 1.2-liter three-cylinder diesel (mFalcon D75) engines.
The dual VVT petrol unit outputs 82 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 114 Nm at 3,500 Nm, while the diesel engine produces 77 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 190 Nm between 1,750-2,250 rpm.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

After going through the whole youth insight study and design process , Did they not get the AMT is also one of the "youth" preferences? .
Maybe they will add it later on, perhaps, or the engine is not that condusive for an AMT?

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I find it a bit overdone, at least in pictures. Good looking, but far too many lines and creases. I even found XUV500's design to be flashy. Might not appeal to everyone. Design is along the lines of modern Mahindras à la New Scorpio and XUV500. Maybe it is just me, others here might quiet dig the design. I feel they should have gone a little subtle as some say, "simplicity is the greatest form of sophistication".
Apart from that, looks like Mahindra has a crowd puller here!

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Given the size of the car that they are telling, I am feeling this is a bit overdone. Probably, if the car was slightly longer then it would have been slightly better, but this is too small a car to have such a shape. It seems like a miniature fusion of Land Rover + Ritz

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

Looks quite good! It looks like some SsangYong design cues were used, and SsangYong could possibly come out with their own version later. I welcome the inclusion of DRLs, even if they're limited to the higher variants. And it's very appreciable that they're offering standard ABS & optional airbags even on the base variant!

That chrome/silver finished rear door handle looks so much out of place, though. I hope they get rid of the chrome/silver finish, and provide black handles on the production variants.

So the Ford EcoSport is finally getting some direct competition in the monocoque sub-4m space (if one ignores the Premier Rio) with the Mahindra KUV1OO and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza all set to end the EcoSport's long monopoly run in this segment, and the Tata Nexon/Osprey not that far behind.

I believe the KUV1OO is going to be positioned quite below the EcoSport in terms of price (considering the engines on offer). It remains to be seen how the Vitara Brezza will be positioned.

Ford have prepared themselves for upcoming competition, with the upgraded EcoSport featuring an updated 100 PS 1.5 TDCi, a lower variant of the brilliant 125 PS 1.0 EcoBoost and proper RHD control stalks, among other minor changes. Still, despite the class leading 6 airbags on the top variants, I think Ford should have made 2 airbags standard on the Ambiente & Trend variants, just like with the Figo twins.

EcoSport vs KUV1OO vs Vitara Brezza vs Nexon/Osprey should be the next big battle in an ever-expanding sub-4m space.

To me, This is as Ugly as it can get! There is no coherence to the design and no flowing connections as well. If the young generation finds this attractive, God help them!

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

The wheel arch designs resembles Renault Kwid in a lot many ways. Would'nt be surprised, if M&M took some cues like how Honda City's rear and Ciaz rear match.

Anyway, looks smashing from the front. Am I seeing it as a 2 door vehicle? We can have a new little segment for Mini SUV's like how we have compact sedan's.

Indian auto market has really put all automakers to put on their thinking caps to lure customers. Now we will have comments from people, when one goes out to purchase a hatch / compact sedan, saying "you could have bought a mini SUV". .

Any guess on the prices? My bet would be between 6-8 Lakhs giving a nice competition to premium hatch market.

Re: Scoop Pic! Mahindra's S101 Mini-SUV spotted

I like the front - very LR Evoque-ish! However the side view is all wrong - the curves in particular. Have a look at the wheel arches for instance! Just does not fit.

I also hate this new design trend of shrinking second row windows. All new designs seem to compete on who can make the second row more claustrophobic! Now we are seeing this entering the SUV (or should that be KUV?) space too.

The rear door handles are housed next to the rear glass window, just like Chevy Beat
I agree with you that they have taken some design cues from Kwid. Also I feel this looks like a Mini XUV500, something like how they brought Kwid as a baby Duster.
On the looks of it, KUV100 looks much bigger than Kwid, but would be like a hatchback with extra GC nevertheless.
Mahindra now should also plan to bring an array of vehicles with similar and bigger petrol engines before other state governments come up with Diesel bans.

The front is as menacing as docile as its side. Pretty disproportionate design this KUV.

You can always rely on Mahindra for the most controversial designs!
