Under this initiative, a technical training corner has been set up within the premises of P.S.B. Industrial Training Institute to train students on Ford technology as part of Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV) curriculum. The facility has with training students practice kits including Ford training material, tool kit, component display and cut section to train students.

The ASSET centre will certify students for their understanding of Ford technology, thereby making them proficient in working across Ford dealership service network across the country. Ford also aims to create employment prospects for students, given the retail distribution of Ford genuine parts in Tamil Nadu.

Ford has already launched five ASSET centres in India - one each in Kochi, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Mohali. The program includes exclusive Train-The-Trainer (TTT) sessions for institute lecturers as well. Institute instructors will be trained through Ford’s Technical Training Centre located in the Chennai manufacturing plant.

The ASSET training facility is a tri-party initiative involving Ford, the dealers, and the ITI. Ford provides technical know-how, reference aids and trained instructors as part of the program. Ford dealerships work with local partners to set up the ASSET technical training corner and provide training to the ITI students by the master technician available as in-house trainer at the dealership. The dealerships also give on-the-job training opportunities to the students at the dealer workshops.

Ford plans to establish 14 centres by the end of 2016 across the country.
