Re: GST effect on car prices?

Any update on the meeting that was supposed to happen today between the gst council and the lease organizations? I'm desperately hoping that I don't have to pay 43% gst instead of 14.5% vat currently.

Re: GST effect on car prices?

I think Carwale has started to show Post GST prices in ex-showroom prices! My friend who is looking to buy a duster said he could see a drop of close to 80K for the variant he was looking!

Re: GST effect on car prices?

CarWale seem to have updated GST prices in their site. Not sure if they are actual prices or just CarWale's anticipated prices. But it gives a fair idea of the pricing on the GST era. A quote I generated for Baleno CVT Zeta for Chennai is attached for reference. The pre GST quote from CarWale is also attached for comparison.

On the desktop website, it says it is the Carwale estimated price. Uploading a picture for reference.

Has it been invoiced / registered to you?

If yes, then I doubt it. If no, definitely yes.

Re: GST effect on car prices?

OTR for Brezza LDI(O) shows up as 8.81, before it was 9.03. took delivery yesterday, lost 20k by this estimation. But, I am not even mad because, I wouldn't have gone for VDI and zdi is out of reach. But, would've got the sweet alloys though

Re: GST effect on car prices?

Prospective customers booking with Mumbai registration should be in for a treat. With Octroi moving out expect a 4% cut just on this account. Have confirmed the same with Hyundai and M&M Showrooms. They have however not been given a final rate but expect further 3-5% cut in rates over and above in Creta and XUV5OO

Re: GST effect on car prices?

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is the first to report a steep decline in June 2017 sales numbers, due to GST.

The company faced a huge 85% decline in domestic sales and sold only 1,973 units in total, as opposed to 13,502 units in June last year.

Meanwhile, Toyota has also said that the prices of it's best-seller SUV, the Fortuner, is set to come down by Rs 2.1 lakhs. The Innova MPV would be seeing a similar price cut of Rs 90,000.

Quote:
N. Raja, director and senior vice-president, (sales & marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “The uncertainty surrounding the GST implementation with regard to the passenger vehicles has impacted the retails as the customers are postponing their plan of purchasing the vehicle post-GST roll out.

He also added, "Thus, in line with our “Customer First” philosophy, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has taken a conscious decision to lower the volumes of vehicles sold to dealers this month. After closely monitoring the customer sentiments we have taken this step to lessen any impact of the differential tax post-GST roll out effective 1st July ‘17”.

Toyota India said that price of the Fortuner SUV will come down by Rs 2.1 lakh on account of lower GST rates. On the other hand, the Innova multi-purpose will be cheaper by Rs 90,000. “We will be passing on the price benefit to the market. However, on the Camry hybrid, the price will go up,” N Raja said.

Re: GST effect on car prices?

Maruti Suzuki sees jump in passenger vehicles sales in June

Quote:
The country's largest car maker Maruti SuzukiBSE -0.07 % on Saturday reported 1% increase in domestic passenger vehicles sales at 93057 units for the month of June. The company had a week-long scheduled bi-annual maintenance shutdown and aligned inventory during the month, ahead of moving to the next indirect tax regime under GST.
In May'17 the dispatch volume was 1.3 lakh units which means a drop of about 40k when compared month-on-month however in Jun'16 the volume was 87k units and hence a 1% increase year-on-year.

I think this is superlative performance considering what we saw with Toyota today, just about 2k units in Jun'16.

This may also be a reflection of the 2 key pointers:
1. There is not too much unsold inventory lying with Maruti dealers and hence need to inject fresh stock instead of cutting down on production
2. Baleno, Brezza and Dzire still have a huge backlog and 40% of these 93k units dispatched last month would be for these models

The existing revision for GST prices I guess will be 2 stage revision.

For example the tax rate for SUVs is down by 12% which the manufacturer has to pass on immediately. This is the net value difference of the tax slab. This will be stage 1.

Stage 2 , apart from this tax slab coming down there will also be an Input tax credit that the manufacturer can claim. As per the anti profiteering law this also has to be passed on to the consumer. Assuming this difference will be 3-5% then the net tax will be down by almost 15-18% on the SUVs.

Am I correct or is my understanding not clear on the subject ? Any CA on the forum ? Pls comment.

GST effect on car prices?

Land Rover have also announced the complete post GST prices.

https://www.findmeasuv.in/gst_files/...828.1498896850

The Discovery sport starts at 40 lacs now ! Almost 10 lacs cheaper after the local assembly related price cut, the pre-GST sale related price cut and now the GST price cut. However, the base version is so under equipped and only the SE makes any sense at all at 46 Lacs. Wish they had added essential features like cruise control, Xenon headlamps, Center armrest etc, it would have been a good proposition with the legendary Land Rover 4X4 capability and the new Ingenium engine + 9 Speed gearbox combination.
