I'm happy they are conducting extensive testing of all their new products, and the results are showing in terms of quality and absence of initial niggles as well.
Problem is also that cars are & have to be tested on public roads, and will be spotted & identified. If it were a refreshed model (like Aria & hexa), it may be possible to mask it sufficiently. But with something like Nexon, it will stand out. Even the new version of the LAMV (Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle) was found to be a Tata based on the mud-flaps.

Pratap Bose, car designer at Tata Motors leaves hints for sunroof in future Tata cars.

I am sure it will be Nexon. Tata is throwing everything it can at it!

Not much.

The diesel AMTs are being put through their paces these days. From what I am hearing, response is smooth and (almost) jerk-free, no doubt due to the heavier 1.5L engine. As before, AMT versions will be launched later - most probably early 2018.

They are on course for an October 2017 launch for the manuals, if all goes smoothly.

No sunroof coming in the Nexon, as of now.

Unless it's a last moment decision before the actual launch to include this feature, don't expect it. (might be offered as an optional accessory, like the Hexa)

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

If Tata want to launch it in time for festive season, it should launch atleast a month before Vijaya Dasami, say in the last week of August or first week of September. Dasara is a big affair in south, mainly in the two telugu states where many prefer to buy vehicles during dasara season.

Diwali is on 19 October, so launching it in August or early September gives prospective customers time to try it out and would give Tata time to work out supply side.

There goes my chance of owning one in 2017. Early 2018 that you are talking about may well go to mid-2018, knowing Tata. So, by then Nexon will be over 2 years old from its first sighting at auto expo in Delhi in 2016. I'm really upset. Why do they deprive automatic lovers of novelty of a car? Almost every car under 30 lakhs is launched in manual first and as a mid-life upgrade, AT box is added several years down the road. It's the same story with every SUV -Scorpio, XUV, Pajero, Fortuner, Endeavour, Captiva, Xtrail, Santa Fe, Koleos, Rexton.

At least the Nexon is going to get one a few months down the line. Stay happy, man. It's not the end of the road.

My guess is that TATA's Nexon and the Jeep Compass are going head to head in their own scoop threads. Here's a Nexon spotted yesterday around Hinjewadi area of Pune. Blue colour seen through the livery looked similar to what we've seen on the Tiago.

To me this looks darker than the blue on Tiago. Maybe it is due to the camera.

The blue shade is darker than the Striker Blue of the Tiago.

It is on the lines of the car first showcased at AutoExpo

As it has to meet homologation norms, it will be of the right size and in correct position. Stylistically, yes, it does look a bit odd. Maybe a round shaped fuel filler flap would have been better.
Also remember, the Xenon is essentially on the Vista platform, jacked up, with a new upper body. Maybe TML did not want to change the position of the Vista fuel filler aperture on the body side inner , resulting in a "visually" lower position. Again this is just an assumption.

Might be a depth perception issue, but it looks sizeably larger than the hatches in the background. And some ground clearance that.

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Chances are that you might have to wait longer if you want to own a 1.2L turbo-charged petrol variant of the Nexon, if CarBlogIndia's latest scoop is to be believed.

Quote:
So far buzz has been that the Nexon will launch with two engine variants a 1.2-litre Turbo Petrol and a 1.5-litre Turbo Diesel.
Now, we have learnt from our sources at the company that the Nexon will initially launch with the Diesel engine only. The 1.5-litre oil-burner will be available with both 6-speed Manual and AMT transmissions.
The petrol variants will be introduced at a later stage.
Our source goes on to tell us that this is owing to some “unforeseen hurdles” that Tata Motors is facing with the development of Petrol mill.
No wonder that they have fast-tracked the diesel AMT variants' testing in the past couple of months.
